Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS is a proposed bus rapid transit system being built to serve the twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad, located in the North-Western part of Karnataka state in India. The construction is funded by the Government of Karnataka, while the operation and maintenance work will be done by Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) in association with Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

BRT corridor

A 4-lane 'throughout' bus corridor of length 70 km is planned running in the middle of an 8-lane freeway which includes two lanes for mixed traffic in both the directions. The width of the corridor will vary from 44.0 meters to 24.5 meters. Four underpasses for regular traffic are planned at Unkal Lake, Unkal-Cross Road, Bairidevarakoppa, and Navanagar..

Bus stations

A total of 33 bus stations are planned, of which 12 stations will be located on 44.0 m wide express corridor which will start from Taj Hotel (Naveen Hotel), Hubballi and end at Gandhinagar Cross, Dharwad.

Bus stations will be 4 meters wide, and will be located at the middle of the BRT corridor.


Each station will act as reference point for GPS, and will have LED Displays to display the schedule of arrival / departure of buses.

Project status

Project DPR and Design Alignment has been submitted to Government of Karnataka, by Centre of Excellence in Urban Transport, CEPT University, Ahmedabad, which has also designed Janmarg (Ahmedabad BRTS).
