The Torre Nueva , also called Torrenueva and sometimes Torre Sabá is a beacon located in the Andalusian town of La Linea de la Concepción, Spain. This construction was part of the system of towers of coastal surveillance during century XVI in front of the incursion of Barbary pirates. It communicated visually with the Torre Nueva de Guadiaro and the Torre Carbonera. At the moment it is in relative good state of conservation integrated with the beach of Torrenueva called Playa de Torrenueva (La Línea de la Concepción) to which it gets its name.

It is a circular tower 7.25 meters in diameter and 12 meters high, with an interior room of 4.40 meters diameter and 7.50 meters high with brick dome to which is accessed through a door located 3.70 meters above the ground. In this room was a chimney for the guards of the tower, a secondary door located in an interior room that allowed the ascent to the roof and a window. From the inner room you can access the terrace by a Spiral staircase integrated into the walls. The roof has a parapet of a little more than one meter in height in which a Machicolation is located in the same level that the door with scaffolds to its sides.

This tower had capacity to house 5 men, 4 soldiers and a corporal and at its feet was placed a Guard Corps capable of 12 units, 1 corporal and 6 soldiers of Infantry and a corporal and 4 soldiers of Cavalry.

It has been declared a national monument since April 22, 1949.[1]
