The firm was founded by Lee Polisano, former President of the American firm Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), David Leventhal former KPF Senior Partner, Fred Pillbrow, Karen Cook and Ron Bakker in 2009 following their departure from KPF,[3] the London office of which they were Senior Associate Partners.[4] Pilbrow soon left the start-up to start his own firm.[5] The firm now counts numerous other former KPF employees as partners, including Jon Neville-Jones and Mark Kelly, both formerly directors at KPF, and Kevin Flanagan, Allessandra Luzzatto, Andrei Martin, Rob Peebles, and Bernard Storch[6].

In 2015, they completed the world's most sustainable office building according to the Building Research Establishment (BRE), The Edge, in Amsterdam. The building received the highest BREEAM rating ever awarded to an office building.[2]

In November 2015, PLP received a resolution to grant planning permission for 22 Bishopsgate, which will be the tallest tower in the City of London, a 62-storey multiple tenancy office tower developed by a consortium led by AXA Real Estate.[1] The building is expected to provide workspaces for nearly 12,000 people, and to be the first building in London to be WELL Certified, a building rating system focused on human health and wellness.[7][8]
