A Cookie for your work behind-the-scene's on various currency articles
On a number of occasions now I've noticed you've made a whole series of benificial but tedious improvements to various currency articles. These are mostly the type of improvements that are behind the scene's (formatting, wikifying, etc.) and thus might go unrecognized, so I wanted to take a moment to thank you and let you know it's appreciated. Need(s) proper infobox

I like the header ;)

Something from Lua

Hi! I posted at User talk:Mr. Stradivarius, but it looks, that Mr. Stradivarius won't respond. So maybe you could have a look:

I wanted to import the portal module to Latvian Wikipedia, but we have diffrent system, as we don't have very much portals and the syntax is a little bit different. I created such data page:

'Portal name' = 'parameter 1', 'parameter 2', 'parameter 3', 'parameter 4' (optionally)

If it would be template, then its code would be something like this (for each portal):

[[File:{{{parameter 3}}}|{{{parameter 4}}}]] [[Portāls:{{{parameter 2}}} portāls|{{{parameter 1}}}]]

And for inclusion in article I would write {{portal|<<here goes the portal name (from data module)>>}}.

So, how it looks to You? You can make any changes for the module @lv wiki, you won't ruin anything as it isn't used.

If the 'Portal name' would be case sensitive (it would be nice, if not)?--Edgars2007 (talk/contribs) 14:20, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion of Template:Location map Kingdom of Hungary

From my talk page back in september.

Bugger bugger bugger, I saw a map in the transport museum in budapest we went the other week and it had the lat and long but in pretty much a mercator projection. My missus was more interested with the toy trains so I didn't get a chance to take the measures off it. If it's wrong (as it is) it should be deleted but I am still trying to get the measures right. The thing is it's specifically Kingdom of Hungary, but the more atlases (atli? :) I look at the more different lats and longs I get. And anything one does on Hungarian articles is rather contentious, so it is probably really better deleted. Because people whose great grandfathers were part of the Kingdom of Hungary will say no that's Croatia or Slovakia or Slovenia or Yugoslavia or Jugoslavia or The People's Republic of East Kebab. Since Hungarian politics is very contentious and goes on racist grounds in far more than would be allowed in where I come from, this is better off deleted. (Hint: say Treaty of Trianon to a Hungarian and await results.) Si Trew (talk) 09:36, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hungary ethic groups.jpg
I never did get round to this. I took the coords off of file at right, which is very high quality but seems to have an odd idea of where 0 longitude is (it suggests it is east of Paris, but that didn't seem to work). As you suggested, I tried to take well-known points at the edges of the map: Fiume, for example, at south-west. I took very good readings after printing out this map at A0 size and using ruler and compass, my trig is quite good, but I could never get it to fit. Si Trew (talk) 06:02, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
.Oh, Template:Location_map_Kingdom_of_Hungary/test might help you. You see, Fiume's in the right place but Budapest is a bit too far left and the rest are well out. Si Trew (talk) 06:09, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox men's college basketball team‎, etc.

Frietjes, here's a template merge I would support in a heartbeat: Template:Infobox men's college basketball team‎ and Template:Infobox women's college basketball team‎.

Have you ever contemplated a comprehensive merge of all the college sports team infobox templates? With a handful of options, I think all U.S. college sports could be accommodated and the team infoboxes would then have a uniform appearance across all sports. Just a thought . . . . Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 21:48, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

the first is already proposed here. I had thought about the second as well, but it will take more time to work out all the details, since there are differences in the post-season tournament section for various sports. Frietjes (talk) 22:19, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just posted a comment in support of the merge of men's and women's college basketball templates. That pending merge should be a no-brainer, and you are clearly already on top of the two minor issues to be addressed in the combined template.
The creation of a combined infobox template for all U.S. college sports teams would require a lot of work and the inclusion of several options, but the core information to be included is common to all. Differences in NCAA playoff structure, etc., could be accommodated by options to be toggled as needed. The payoff would be worth the effort. Not only should these infoboxes have a common appearance within a given sport, the teams affiliated with a given university should also have a common appearance and graphics style, and that can only be accomplished by a common template across all college sports teams. I think you would find the college football, basketball and baseball sports projects to be supportive, and the other college sports do not have active/vocal WikiProjects and tend to follow the lead of the football, basketball and baseball projects. I would be grateful for your help in making this happen, but I also understand that you have numerous pending template projects already. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 11:14, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Frietjes, these example "college stripe" color graphics [20] are exactly the direction in which I would like to go with a standardized infobox for all college sports -- with appropriate options and switches for all NCAA sports teams. It may be that Infobox college football team remains outside such a uniform infobox scheme because of its differences, but we could at least conform its graphics to those of a uniform template used by the other 20-odd NCAA sports. What's your reaction to these ideas, in light of what we have previously discussed above? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 14:45, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox tennis biography – Hall of Fame

Hi Frietjes, the International tennis HoF has launched a new website and it now again has a standard url for the inductees: www.tennisfame.com/hall-of-famers/inductees/<player id> Can you please update the {{Infobox tennis biography}} template to reflect this? I have already updated {{Tennishof}}. Thx.--Wolbo (talk) 14:25, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thx! --Wolbo (talk) 14:21, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, can you tell me where I can find the color settings for the section headers in {{Infobox tennis biography}}? I would like to experiment in a sandbox (if I can figure out how to do that) with colors or other formatting options to see if we can better distinguish between the different section levels of the infobox but can't find where it generates the color. --Wolbo (talk) 01:50, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Wolbo, template is using colours set by MediaWiki:Common.css. I have changed the sandbox template to use the colour specified in |headerstyle=. Frietjes (talk) 12:35, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

College color module

F, what does this edit do: [21]? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:42, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dirtlawyer1 and Joeykai, I reverted that change since the better solution is more complicated. you can see the the stripe, header1, and header2 for all the teams in User:Frietjes/ncaa. basically, for header1, it uses color1 for the background and then automatically selects either white or black for the font color. for header2, it uses color3 for the background and then automatically selects either white or black for the font color. if color3 is not defined, header2 will use color2 instead. if the resulting background color is very close to white, header2 will use color1 for the background instead. let me know if you see any problems. at some point, I would like to update {{CollegePrimaryStyle}} and {{CollegeSecondaryStyle}} so that we don't need to manually override the border and font color. of course, the best option may be to eventually get rid of all this automatic font selection and just have 5 colors in for each team in the data table (primary background, primary font, secondary background, secondary font, border color), but I don't really have time to work on that right now. Frietjes (talk) 13:30, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Colombia

Hi, I've just created Category:Colombia location map templates and realised that Spanish wikipedia and indeed half a dozen other wikis have the templates created by department and city. I was wondering if you, WOSlinker or whoever could find a straightforward way to transfer all of these. There's a fair few others too, Panama, even Venezuela has a few provincial maps. Very useful for things like landmarks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:34, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Dr. Blofeld: I've imported them. You should move them to a better name though. Did you want the subcategories doing as well? -- WOSlinker (talk) 14:02, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, All of them yup. For Colombia Category:Colombia department location map templates and Category:Colombia city location map templates will be needed, I'm sure you can figure out which corresponds to which!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:06, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Panama maps are here. -- WOSlinker (talk) 14:12, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@WOSlinker:. Thanks, I'll gradually sort out the names. As we're at it you may as well ransack the sub categories of this and see that they match up with English. Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico etc all seem to have plenty of them, I,m not sure what has been transferred yet, but if you could check and import what is missing I'll sort out the names and order. Some have been started for Argentina but still lots missing.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:37, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Colombia and Panama now all done thanks. Give me a bell when you can transfer Argentina, Costa Rica etc.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:18, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In the Wetlands of Bogota article can somebody copy the map and labels from here and add an infobox with the map and labels (without "Humedal de" in it")?♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:40, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Coding issue

I came across an edit you performed on 15:51, 21 May 2012 for the article Operation Crossroads that has produced an anomaly. The anomaly is a citation in the "Notes" section that displays twice when the citation is used only once in the article. See note 1 and note 103. You will notice note 1 links to nothing, but note 103 works as expected. I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I was hoping you would have better luck. Mitchumch (talk) 05:28, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mitchumch, very strange. I was able to fix it by switching the gallery template to a gallery tag. I know that we used to preprocess args for modules like infobox, but that's no longer necessary after changes to the backend software (see this thread). I don't know if this is related. I will ping Jackmcbarn and Mr. Stradivarius who may know more. for anyone unclear about the bug, check reference [1] and reference [103] in this version. Frietjes (talk) 13:19, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
okay, it's definitely a bug in template:gallery, starting a thread at Template_talk:Gallery. Frietjes (talk) 13:22, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unclosed center tags

Please remove center tags in Blackadder. This will help me understand of how to replace this tags with wikitable syntax. -- Magioladitis (talk) 07:32, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And this one has more than 600 unclosed tags: List of female tennis players. -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:18, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Magioladitis, my strategy for center tags (or really any alignment) inside of tables is as follows: (1) determine the most common cell alignment used in the table, for example are the majority of the cells center aligned, left aligned, or right aligned. note that table headers are typically aligned center by default. (2) whatever is the most common, add that style statement to the top of the table. this will be the default (3a) add per-cell style statements to cells with alignment that is different from the majority. (3b) use {{left}} / {{right}} / {{center}} instead of cell style statements. sometimes this makes for shorter/more readable code. Frietjes (talk) 13:02, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That adds up to 577 additional elements, which have also got no effect on mobile (Minerva). It would be better to create a new template for centring cell text, in the fashion of {{Yes}}. Alakzi (talk) 13:18, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
that's what {{left}} and {{right}} do with no input args. we could make {{center}} do the same now that the tracking category is basically empty. Frietjes (talk) 12:50, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you amending the layout of {{Infobox football biography}} against the infobox documentation? GiantSnowman 16:18, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User:GiantSnowman, per your comments: "Personally I prefer No. 3, but it's all good in the hood - it doesn't affect how you read the page one iota." it seems you have changed your mind and now you actually do have a strong opinion? Frietjes (talk) 16:42, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox election

Any idea why the infobox at Brazilian presidential election, 2010 is displaying three columns when there are only two candidates? Seems to be working fine at Brazilian presidential election, 2014 and I can't tell the difference. Cheers, Number 57 18:11, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(Talk page stalker) Hi User:Number 57, I believe that the number of columns is correct, but that the images have a very tall aspect ratio. I changed them to other images, and it seems fine to me. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 21:29, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. However, shouldn't the columns be centre-aligning? Presumably the large map at the bottom was making the infobox wider than the candidate pics. Number 57 22:14, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Number 57 and Plastikspork, looks like you have it figured it. yes, it's due to the mismatch in the widths of the map and candidate images. if you make the map more narrow, or the candidate pictures wider, things should line up better. Frietjes (talk) 12:48, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please check Wikipedia:CHECKWIKI/085 dump whether they are more infoboxes that need to be updated before I start removing empty span/div tags? -- Magioladitis (talk) 12:50, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Magioladitis, can you scan the articles and find the name of the template surrounding the empty tags? I can certainly go through them all, but it would take me as much time to check them as it would take me to fix them. as a general rule, if it uses {{infobox}} it should be fine, if it doesn't it may or may not be fine. Frietjes (talk) 12:53, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

NicoV we need you help to recheck #43. -- Magioladitis (talk) 20:01, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Magioladitis I just checked #43: out of 41 articles, 40 were marked as fixed, only 2015 National Rugby Championship is still reported because still missing a few closing brackets. Only thing I don't understand is why there were still 41 articles in the list, I thought I ran the tool on each list before. --NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 20:04, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
NicoV, looks like Magioladitis fix the last one here. Frietjes (talk) 20:38, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reference tags without correct match went up to 200 pages. -- Magioladitis (talk) 22:30, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Magioladitis, you can recheck this one now. Frietjes (talk) 00:20, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

All done. Template without correct beginning. You involvement is the only way to reduce backlog after Bgwhite's (temporary) absence. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:40, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Magioladitis, you can recheck this one now. Frietjes (talk) 15:33, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

All done. Square brackets without correct end. 50 pages here. Last error with backlog. -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:51, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Magioladitis, you can recheck this one now. Frietjes (talk) 18:40, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
All done. Thanks. -- Magioladitis (talk) 22:55, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your help in the usual errors: 28, 43, 47, 94, 10 is needed again. Bgwhite is still not around. I am working on ideas of how to make more of these fixes to be done by bot. -- Magioladitis (talk) 22:43, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Togo

Hi can you or a stalker go through the Prefectures of Togo and add infoboxes? Ideally using some data like in Sotouboua Prefecture? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:00, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

don't really have time right now, but someone else might. Frietjes (talk) 15:02, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Some stroopwafels for you!

Thanks for correcting my sourcing mistake on Defense of the Reich. Much appreciated. GeneralizationsAreBad (talk) 19:58, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Library systems and lists of libraries

Hi! I took a look at this removal of the library listing. Even though Wikipedia has WP:NOTYELLOW, when people see a library system article they expect to see a list of libraries. I think this kind of "YELLOW" is good for Wikipedia. Not listing it leaves out important information for the reader. I do support removing the external links in the article space (they can be in the citations, though) WhisperToMe (talk) 12:25, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WhisperToMe, fine with me if you want to format it as a table, just no phone numbers. Frietjes (talk) 14:08, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Frietjes: I work on the Franch Wikipedia, and more on Wikimedia Commons to illustrate cyclists. I see you create Module:Infobox cyclist tracking. Did you know that it is possible to use datas from Wikidata ? I prepared Module:Infobox/Cycliste. It doesn't applicate on the French Wikipedia because we don't already have the arbitrary access.

For cycling races, Module:Infobox/Descriptif course cycliste is working, but it lacks few properties (example : Tour du Limbourg 2015). Is it possible you start to adapt Template:Infobox cycling race report ? New properties about classification should arrive during the summer. That will permit we will start to work together English/French on Wikidata, and be more efficient. (sorry for my bad English, but we are not good on other languages in France...) Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (talk) 09:19, 19 June 2015 (UTC) PS : Module:Infobox cycling race report‎[reply]

Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick, the "Module:Infobox cyclist tracking" is used to find problems in places where template:Infobox cyclist is used. yes, I am aware that we can use data from wikidata (see, for example infobox anatomy). it would be interesting to add wikidata to template:infobox cyclist or template:infobox cycling race report, but we should have the discussion at template talk:infobox cyclist or template talk:infobox cycling race report or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cycling since there are going to be more editors interested in discussing it. I will start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cycling. thank you. Frietjes (talk) 13:24, 21 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Frietjes. One of my project is to have more or less the same infoboxes in around twenty languages. Infoboxes are not again perfect, because it lacks some properties and the arbitrary access, but it is a good beginning. I ask to Mattsnow81 to translate the fields. Il already have a module for the cyclists, but it is not again possible to make a difference between pro and amateur teams. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (talk) 21:56, 21 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PMID3

Since magic is nowadays enabled for PMID too, what do you think of Template:PMID3? Is it useless or is there any special cases that this template is really needed? -- Magioladitis (talk) 06:42, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Magioladitis, probably not "needed", but it does generate something slightly different. given the infrequency of use, it could probably be replaced/deleted. Frietjes (talk) 12:24, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox Grand Prix race report

Hi Frietjes. Thanks for your updates to Template:Infobox Grand Prix race report. I was wondering: would it be possible to make the labels left-aligned like they used to be? (see Template:Infobox Grand Prix race report/testcases). Thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 00:30, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DH85868993, let me guess, you are using Internet Explorer? Frietjes (talk) 00:30, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, IE9 on Windows 7. DH85868993 (talk) 00:31, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
DH85868993, apparently, that's the only modern browser that doesn't left-align the labels by default. please let me know if this is still a problem after my last change. someone like User:Edokter could probably tell me why this hack is necessary. Frietjes (talk) 00:34, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's fixed it - thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 00:36, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
IE9 simply centre-aligns all <th>s in the browser stylesheet; they do not inherit the <table>'s alignment. It'd probably be a good idea to add this rule to Mediawiki:Common.css. Alakzi (talk) 03:04, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Module:Episode List

Hi, Frietjes. Would I be right in assuming that you are an editor for Module:Episode list? If so, I made a request some time ago at Template talk:Episode list (before moving it to Module talk:Episode list), about adding a parameter that gives a rowspan attribute to the EpisodeNumber variable (as shown in my sandbox), and even implemented it myself in the module's sandbox, but haven't heard back from any editors about it. Might I trouble you to take a look at it? Many thanks! Alex|The|Whovian 02:28, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
