Although the division began to assemble in September 1914, it was not fully deployed on the Western Front until the following year. In November 1915, the division was redeployed to Salonika, where it remained until the end of the war.
The 26th Division took part in the following operations:
- 10-18 August 1916: the Battle of Horseshoe Hill
- 24-25 April and 8-9 May 1917: the Battles of Doiran
- 18-19 September 1918: the Third Battle of Doiran
- 22-30 September 1918: the Pursuit to the Strumica Valley.
Demobilization began in February 1919, and the division was formally disbanded on 10 May 1919.
