Sir Evelyn de Rothschild is Chairman of NM Rothschild & Sons Bank. Sir Evelyn failed his economics degree at Cambridge University, but made up for it 40 years later when he took an honorary one from Hull University. Sir Evelyn was a polo player in his youth. He has three children with Victoria Schott, his wife of 25 years, from whom he separated in 1999.
Sir Evelyn, the self-appointed caretaker of the Rothschild bank for future generations is said to be prone to angry outbursts. He once took 90 pieces of luggage with him to Barbados - on Concorde. His personal fortune is estimated at £400 million. Rothschild is also chairman of United Racecourses, which owns Epsom and Sandown. He married Lynn Forrester in December 2000.
