1978 Series Title Card

Richie Brockelman, Private Eye is an American detective drama that aired on NBC from March 17, 1978 to April 1978. The series was a spin-off of The Rockford Files.[1][2]

Premise

The series focused on Richie Brockelman, a 23 year old college educated private investigator with his own agency in Los Angeles, California.

Initially filmed as a pilot in 1976 in a made for TV movie called "Richie Brockleman: Missing 24 Hours". Was not picked up. Stephen J. Cannell then reworked the character into a two hour episode of The Rockford Files entitled "The House On Willis Avenue" in the last episode of the 1977-78 year. Rockford and Brockelman join forces to solve the murder of a veteran PI who taught both of them the ropes, it was then followed up by a limited five-episode run of "Richie Brockelman, Private Eye".

After the five episodes aired, NBC decided against picking up the series for a full season in the 1978-79 season. Brockleman, however, re-appeared in another Rockford Files episode, "Never Send a Boy King to do a Man's Job" later that season.
