Joshua Dallas (born December 18, 1981) is an American actor who played Fandral in Thor, a film adaptation based on the Marvel Comics character.
Early life
Dallas graduated in 1997 (at the age of 15) from New Albany High School in New Albany, Indiana,[1] where he studied theater under David Longest.
Career
Dallas was cast as Fandral in Thor after Irish actor Stuart Townsend withdrew from the role days before filming was to begin.[2] As he was a virtual unknown actor when cast, there was some speculation that Dallas was selected because there simply was not enough time to find a bigger name replacement.[3] To prepare for the role, Dallas viewed Errol Flynn as an inspiration (the character was also created based on Flynn), and watched many of his films. He commented, "I tried to bring out that little bit of Flynn-ness in it. Flynn had a lot of that boyish charm and Fandral's got all that in him."[4]
In September, Dallas will be appearing in the upcoming American television series Once Upon a Time as Prince Charming.[5]
Personal life
In 2008, he married British actress Lara Pulver.[6] The couple honeymooned in the Maldives.[7]
