Mont-Noble is a municipality in the district of Hérens in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It was created on 1 January 2011 through the merger of the municipalities of Mase, Vernamiège and Nax.[3]

Mase is first mentioned about 1100 as villa Magis. Until 1902 it was known as Mage.[4] Nax is first mentioned around 1001-1100 as Nas.[5] Nax's village church collapsed in 1909 during a service, killing 31 and injuring 50.

It has changed at a rate of 15.5% due to migration and at a rate of -6.2% due to births and deaths.[6]
Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (92.8%) as their first language, German is the second most common (5.2%) and Italian is the third (0.8%).[6]

As of 2000[update] the average number of residents per living room was 0.56 which is less people per room than the cantonal average of 0.63 per room.[6] In this case, a room is defined as space of a housing unit of at least 4 m² (43 sq ft) as normal bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, kitchens and habitable cellars and attics.[9] About 83.8% of the total households were owner occupied, or in other words did not pay rent (though they may have a mortgage or a rent-to-own agreement).[10]
As of 2009[update], the construction rate of new housing units was 6.8 new units per 1000 residents.[6] The vacancy rate for the municipality, in 2010[update], was 1.49%.[6]

Economy
As of 2010[update], Mont-Noble had an unemployment rate of 5.7%. As of 2008[update], there were 27 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 16 businesses involved in this sector. 26 people were employed in the secondary sector and there were 8 businesses in this sector. 93 people were employed in the tertiary sector, with 31 businesses in this sector.[6]
Of the working population, 11.8% used public transportation to get to work, and 67.1% used a private car.[6]
