Hermrigen is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
History
Hermrigen is first mentioned in 1249 as Hermeringen.[3]
Geography
Hermrigen has an area, as of 2009[update], of Template:Km2 to mi2. Of this area, Template:Km2 to mi2 or 50.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while Template:Km2 to mi2 or 42.4% is forested. Demographics
Hermrigen has a population (as of 31 December 2020) of 307.[5] As of 2007[update], 0.8% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -2.2%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (97.3%), with French being second most common ( 1.2%) and Italian being third ( 0.4%).
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 57.3% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (15.4%), the Green Party (8.9%) and the FDP (6.3%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 20.4% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 61.5% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 18.1%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Hermrigen about 73.7% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either University or a Fachhochschule).
Hermrigen has an unemployment rate of 0.68%. As of 2005[update], there were 30 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 16 businesses involved in this sector. 5 people are employed in the secondary sector and there are 3 businesses in this sector. 29 people are employed in the tertiary sector, with 7 businesses in this sector.[6] The historical population is given in the following table:[3]
