Champoz is a municipality in the Jura bernois administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. It is located in the French-speaking Bernese Jura (Jura Bernois).
History
Champoz is first mentioned in 1365 as Champo.[3]
Geography

Demographics
Champoz has a population (as of 31 December 2020) of 174.[5] As of 2007[update], 0.7% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -4.4%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (90.7%), with the rest (9.3%) speaking German.
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 61.7% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the FDP (18.2%), the local small left-wing parties (10.9%) and the CSP (4.1%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 37.1% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 53.6% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 9.3%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Champoz about 72.4% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either University or a Fachhochschule).
Champoz has an unemployment rate of 1.03%. As of 2005[update], there were 32 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 12 businesses involved in this sector. 3 people are employed in the secondary sector and there are 2 businesses in this sector. 7 people are employed in the tertiary sector, with 4 businesses in this sector.[6] The historical population is given in the following table:[3]
