Bettenhausen is a municipality in the Oberaargau administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
History
Bettenhausen is first mentioned in 1335 as Bettenhusen.[3]
Geography

Demographics
Bettenhausen has a population (as of 31 December 2020) of 642.[5] As of 2007[update], 2.6% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 7.8%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (98.1%), with French being second most common ( 0.8%) and Turkish being third ( 0.4%).
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 49.8% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (19.7%), the FDP (11.3%) and the Green Party (9.6%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 26.7% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 59.6% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 13.7%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Bettenhausen about 75.3% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either University or a Fachhochschule).
Bettenhausen has an unemployment rate of 2.04%. As of 2005[update], there were 28 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 9 businesses involved in this sector. 16 people are employed in the secondary sector and there are 4 businesses in this sector. 13 people are employed in the tertiary sector, with 5 businesses in this sector.[6] The historical population is given in the following table:[3]
