Stansstad has a population (as of 2008) of 4,478, of which 13.3% are foreign nationals.[4] Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 0.6%. Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (90.1%), with Italian being second most common ( 2.1%) and Albanian being third ( 1.5%).[3] As of 2008 the gender distribution of the population was 51.4% male and 48.6% female.
