Biography

Roberts started her career as a cabaret dancer, supporting Cannon and Ball on a summer season in Guernsey, and then followed their act on to television. She supplemented this work with various supporting roles in Christmas pantomimes and dancing on cruise liners, before she took a job in a cabaret show in Hong Kong.

Roberts returned to the UK with her boyfriend, and appeared in various commercials, including the Woolwich Building Society and Head and Shoulders shampoo. Wishing to undertake more television, she appeared as a hostess on The Price is Right. After two series she had her first child Daniel, and then worked on the whole series of Beadle’s About before having her second child, daughter Sophie.[1]

Julia has her own production company and has penned a novel.

One of two original cast members who have been with QVC since the launch of the channel in October 1993, she is still an active presenter on the channel today.

Julia has a keen interest in music and dance, and that is where she kicked off her showbiz career. Her first professional singing and dancing job was a summer season in Guernsey with Cannon and Ball.

Her career in TV began with parts in Citizen Smith and Doctor Who in 1979. Other TV roles include appearances as a hostess of The Price is Right and as a member of the 'Hit Squad' on Beadle's About.

Her presenting career kicked off with the 1989 Motorshow in London. She followed this by presenting on her own 'magazine-style' programme on cable TV.

She has also appeared in TV commercials for Head and Shoulders and The Woolwich.
