Like most [[United Kingdom|British]] based motorcaravan manufacturers, their vehicles are based on [[van]] [[chassis]] supplied by major motor manufacturers, including the [[Ford Transit]], [[Peugeot]] Boxer and [[Volkswagen]]. Auto-sleeper have been converting [[van]]s since the [[1960s]]. They are well known for their successful [[monocoque]] van chassis, which is a one-piece rear unit unlike the back and front being built separately then joined together like with most coachbuilts, which are also far more prone to leaking.

Auto-Sleeper are Worcestershire, England based manufacturer of motorhomes.

History

The company was founded in 1961 by the Trevelyan family. Auto-Sleepers product developed through teh adoption of the successful monocoque body, a two-piece clam-sheel glass-fibre unit which gave the unit strength and a lack of edge joints, which on a traditional sandwich construction are prone to leaking.

The company developed rapidly and quickly became a product market leader in the United Kingdom, as well as exporting its vehicles to France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia and Japan

The Trevelyan family sold the business in 1998 to Marquis Motorhomes, who in 2005 sold the business to the Italian motorhome manufacturing comapny SEA Groupe.[1]
