Musicolet is a freemium audio player software for Android.[3] Developed since 2016 by Maulik Raviya as Krosbits based in India,[4] it is distributed on Google Play Store, Galaxy Store, Amazon Appstore and Huawei AppGallery.

Features

Musicolet has a library of audio content found on the device but also has a folder browser.[5]

Musicolet features multiple playing queues (which the developer claims is the only music playing app on Android to do so),[5] a metadata tag editor, and a 5-band equalizer.[6][3]

It supports several audio codecs and formats, including:[5]

Musicolet is entirely ad-free.[7][8] However a pro version is offered as a one time purchase, which adds a number of advanced features including crossfade, volume normalization, multi-artists and Chromecast support.[9]

Other features
  • Multi-language interface
  • Light and AMOLED dark skins
  • ID3 tag editor
  • LRC synchronised lyrics support
  • Sleep timer
  • Gapless playback

Interface

According to the developer, the app interface is made to be simple, with all functionalities in a single row at the bottom.[5] They are from left to right: Queue, Now Playing, Folder browser, Albums, Artists (including Album-Artists and Composers), Genres, Playlists and Search. Musicolet also provides an Android system widget with playback controls.[10][11]

Reception

The German magazine PC-Welt called the player a "good role model". It praised its lightweight efficiency and lack of ads, but listed "simple design" as a con.[12] Android Authority listed Musicolet in its 2023 list of 15 best free Android apps of all time.[13]

In 2022, LinuxLinks listed Musicolet in its Best Free Android Apps list with a "strict eligibility criteria". The site praised the "extremely polished interface which is extremely intuitive and easy to use", but commented it was a "shame" the developer was not interested in adding network support.[14]
