Julian Teicke (10 October 1986 in Berlin, Germany) is a German businessman, entrepreneur of wefox.[1] He is also a co-investor, co-founder, and board member of several European tech startups.[2]


Julian has been bestowed with the "40 under 40" award by Capital Magazine.[2]


Education

Julian graduated from the John F Kennedy School. Afterward, he moved to Switzerland, where he graduated with a Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen in 2010.[3]


Career

In 2010, Julian Teicke played an active role in starting up the UK branch of Chocri, a chocolate company based in Berlin.[4] He later joined Groupon (UK) where he headed up the European sales operation.[5][6] In 2011 he and Maxi Rofagha Teicke co-founded the e-commerce platform DeinDeal in Switzerland.[7][8] Julian Teicke has been honored with the title of Swiss e-Commerce Champion and received the Swiss e-Commerce award for two consecutive years, in 2013 and 2014.[9][10]


Julian served as the DeinDeal's COO until it was sold to media publisher Ringier for an undisclosed sum in 2015.[11][12]


In November 2014, Teicke founded FinanceFox, a company that initially offered customers the ability to manage their insurance contracts online.[13][14][15][16] In the following years, the company received permission to sell insurance products and rebranded as wefox.[17][18] Since its launch in 2015, wefox has doubled its yearly revenues, reaching $580 million in 2022, and serving more than 3 million customers across Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, The Netherlands, and Switzerland.[19]


In 2020, Julian Teicke has been recognized as one of the top five CEOs in the European insurtech industry[20] and ranked among the top 25 fintech CEOs in Europe.[21]


Board and advisory role

Julian Teicke sits on four boards and advisory committees for other companies. In 2017, he became a Chair for Doctorly, Kenjo and Charly.[22] Since 2015, Julian Teicke has been a Founder and Partner & Non-Executive Chairman at The Delta (a venture catalyst firm).[23][24][25]


Personal life

In April 2020, Julian founded Healthy Together (a non-profit European tech alliance) by supporting the design and launch of the Corona-Warn-App.[26] Julian is one of the founders of the football-focused sports portal, OneFootball, and his company, wefox, is a sponsor of renowned professional European football clubs including FC Union Berlin[27], A.C. Milan,[28] and BSC Young Boys.[29]


He is also the youngest-ever serving board member of the Jewish Museum of Berlin.[30][31] He is married to Elisabeth von Stackleberg (House of Stackelberg) and they have two children. They live in Berlin.[32]
