Tameichi Hara, an officer in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. He commanded the destroyer Amatsukaze and later served as a destroyer squadron commander with his flag on the destroyer Shigure. He commanded the light cruiser Yahagi during Operation Ten-Go in April, 1945 that resulted in the sinking of the battleship Yamato. His memoirs were translated into English under the title, "Japanese Destroyer Captain."
