According to herbarium records, Ribes americanum is abundant in the riparian and wetland areas in the town of Bozeman, whereas the similar Ribes hudsonianum is known from the surrounding mountains near streams but not as a wetlands species. This site occurs along the East Gallatin River in the Glen Lake Rotary Park area, Bozeman, Montana.
