Summary

Description We have reached the other end of the old town of Shanghai now and come across this beautiful scene. In the foreground is the Jiu Qu Qiao zigzag bridge with nine turns. The zig zag layout of the bridge is supposed to be favorable, as legend states that devils are frightened of bends. The zig zag bridge leads to the Mid-Lake Pavilion Tea house One of the most famous tea houses in all of China, it is primarily a place for demonstration of various types of teas with free tasting, something I had experienced in Beijing as well as in Xi'an. However, you could also drink some of it as a customer, without buying the tea leaves.. A glass (not a pot) of your tea of choice is ¥20-25 downstairs and ¥40-55 upstairs. The view from upstairs are good, it's more peaceful there, and although my guide was not so inclined, we had almost decided to stop for a cup of tea there. She backed out at the last minute so we decided to move along as time was also a limiting factor. (Shanghai, China, May 2017)
