Description
English: The latest Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite - GOES-P is now on-orbit. GOES-P carries state-of-the-art instrumentation designed to detect ocean and land temperatures, monitor space weather, relay communications and provide search-and-rescue support. It's one of a series of meteorological satellites developed to gather data about storm development and weather conditions on Earth. The satellite was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on Mar. 4.
