| Description |
English: Calendula officinalis, the pot marigold, is a flowering plant in the daisy family Asteraceae. It is probably native to southern Europe, though its long history of cultivation makes its precise origin unknown. Its florets are edible, they are often used to add color to salads. The flowers were used in ancient Greek, Roman, Middle Eastern, and Indian cultures as a medicinal herb, as well as a dye for fabrics, foods, and cosmetics. Many of these uses persist today. They are also used to make oil that protects the skin.

Веројатно е роден во јужна Европа, иако неговата долга историја на одгледување го прави непознато неговото прецизно потекло. Неговите цветови се јадливи, тие често се користат за додавање боја на салатите. Цветовите ги користеле античките грчки, римските, блискоисточните и индиските култури како лековита билка, како и боја за ткаенини, храна и козметика. Многу од овие употреби опстојуваат и денес.
