Description1965 Chrysler Valiant AP6 Regal Sedan (45475190162).jpg
The AP6 Valiant was built in Australia from March 1965 to March 1966. The AP6 was an update on the previous AP5. The AP5 was the first fully Australian designed and manufactured Valiant, only the doors, guards and windscreen were shared with the US equivalent.
The AP6 got a new split grille (similar to the Plymouth Barracuda), new bonnet and new front guards, which increased the cars length 2 inches. Brakes were improved but the unique push button auto was gone (now conventional floor shifter)
The Standard Valiant and the upmarket Regal were carried over from the AP5 in either sedan or Safari wagon (the Regal got more brightwork, better interior and auto trans).
With the AP6, a V8 was now available, it was a model in its own right; the V8 Valiant, the new V8 Valiant got a vinyl roof, bucket seats and console. Also new was the new Wayfarer utility.
Engines; 145hp 225 cu in slant 6 cyl or 180hp 273 cu in V8
