Purshottam Lal (born October 30, 1946) is an Indian author and former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. He is commonly known as P.Lal[1],[2],[3],[4]

Early life and family

Lal was born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He received his education in Uttar Pradesh, primarily in Lucknow, and earned a Master of Science (Physics) degree from Lucknow University in 1966.[4]

Career

Lal served as an IPS officer in the Punjab state, ultimately achieving the highest rank of Director General of Police. He was awarded the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 1993 and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1987.[1],[2],[3],[4],[5]

Writing and literary

Lal has authored six books and contributed extensively to newspapers such as The Tribune, Hindustan Times, and Daily World. His trilogy—'Gift of Life'[6],[7],[8],[9], 'River Saraswati and the Aryans'[10],[11],[12], and 'Hindu, Hinduism and Hindutva-Bharat a Sanatana Rashtra'[13],[14],[15],[16],[17],[18]—synthesizes ideas from ancient Indian texts and modern science. His articles cover a range of subjects including governance, law enforcement, terrorism, corruption, scientific inquiry, and human behaviour.
