In the above article, an editor is changing Main Article links to See Also links. Is this the result of a consensus somewhere? Britmax (talk) 23:45, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to revert them all myself before seeing this because it goes against my understanding of the difference between {{see also}} and {{main}}. @The Optimistic One: just curious about the rationale? ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 01:27, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I thought. And yes, a reason would be good. Britmax (talk) 10:39, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Daenerys Targaryen infobox "First appearance" parameter?

Technically, Dany's first appearance in a published work was in "Blood of the Dragon", but this novella is not widely known, very rare, and technically an early draft of a portion of A Game of Thrones rather than a separate work. Should the infobox mention it? Hijiri 88 (やや) 14:58, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Overly inclusive guest appearances lists in episode articles

Going through the articles for the show’s episodes, I noticed that the list of guest appearances is usually very long and includes characters listed as Dothraki widow, handmaiden, Johnna’s sister, etc. I think they should be compacted to the more notable characters/guest appearances or dropped altogether. Not every actor who appeared on screen needs to be listed. What do you think?Afheather (talk) 03:19, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Potential OR violations regarding character differences

Hi all, I am not (yet) a member of this WikiProject, as I am going through the show for the first time and I have just finished season two (I have not read the books).

On that note, as I was reading the WP articles for behind-the-scenes details for the first two seasons, there were some points specifically regarding the descriptions of the character Xaro Xhoan Daxos, portrayed by Nonso Anozie. In Game of Thrones (season 2)#Casting, there is the following statement: The character differed a lot from his novel counterpart. Xaro's homosexuality, femininity and caucasian origin were overshadowed by dark skinned Anozie's masculinity and heterosexuality. Similarly, in Garden of Bones#Casting: Xaro Xhoan Daxos played by Nonso Anozie. In the books, Xaro is a native of Qarth and is white, but in the series Xaro is an immigrant from the Summer Isles and is black. Many other traits of the original character, such as his homosexuality and constant crying, have been removed in the adaptation.

The former is unsourced; the latter has a broken link to a source I am unfamiliar with regarding its reliability. I say all this to ask: what is the WikiProject's consensus on this sort of comparison between the books and the show? Is this WP:TRIVIA or WP:OR that needs to be removed? Is the seemingly unconventional casting relevant at all? Or is there enough relevant, reliable sourcing such that details warrant inclusion on the encyclopedia?

I just want to ensure that the encyclopedia is not giving voice to a similar problematic subgroup that still haunts the pages relating to last years Rings of Power show. Many inappropriately attempted to insert commentary (e.g. OR, WP:POV) regarding differences between the show and Tolkien's lore, presenting the diverse casting decisions with an unsupported, inherently negative bias. Perhaps I am reading these GOT articles with this in recent memory, but I wanted to make sure that these provided quotes were not guilty of the same veiled problems, painting the demographic differences as wrong in and of themselves.

I hope this all makes sense. I am considering joining this WikiProject, though I am holding off for now just to avoid spoilers where I can, lol. Please let me know if I need to clarify what I am asking. Thanks in advance. TNstingray (talk) 15:01, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
