Hi,

Glad to see that you are standardising units. I have a monobook tool that in one click does a lot of unit standardising.

Simply copy the entire contents of User:Bobblewik/monobook.js to the bottom of User:Koeppen/monobook.js. Then follow the instructions in your monobook to clear the cache (i.e. press Ctrl-Shift-R in Firefox, or Ctrl-F5 in IE) before it will work.

Thanks for uploading Image:MRO CRISM prelaunch 2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi there, with regard to the above image, I was a little concerned that the copyright may not reside with NASA (and therefore be public domain), but rather with the John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. According to their website, they claim "all rights reserved". What is the true copyright status of the image of CRISM? Thanks and regards, BillC 12:14, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for checking in on those CRISM images -- Kerri sent your message along to me, to get back in touch with you. The short answer is that we adhere to NASA's image use guidelines for pictures on our mission Web sites. So, the images are free to use without expressed permission from APL, though we do ask that the users provide proper credit (which is usually listed in the caption).

I almost find it funny, me being the main lead... I've only been working on this entry for the last 2 months, and all I really did was provide the motivation to get the article improved, and a bit of direction. I suppose summing a bunch of stuff up too... Still, I would like to see a FA out of the MRO, it was talked about when I first got working on it, and I really would like to see it soon. Thanks for the kind words on my user page. I really just started editing the lindy/swing dance pages recently when I had some time to procastinate... uh, spare from my thesis. There's so much to be done - many of the pages are in really terrible shape, in terms of written expression (eg the pages devoted to dance moves, etc), because they're out of date, or have a regional bias. So go on - get in there. The nice thing about wikipedia is that you're encouraged to get in there and have a go! I've not got much wikipedia experience, and I don't really have time to devote to learning how to do things properly (like linking properly), so I'd really appreciate more people keeping an eye on these pages! It'd be especially good if you knew something about Hollywood or Smooth style, especially historical stuff - I know nothing.

In the lindy hop article, I haven't had time to really look at the "Dance movement, moves and patterns" section. I suspect it should really all be moved to the List of lindy hop moves article to the swing dancing book. As I noted in the 'major editing of the lndy hop article' section in the lindy hop discussion page, the lindy hop article could really be divided again - into a basic 'what is lindy hop' article, and a 'lindy hop today' article. If I get time I'll have a stab at it this week.

All of the changes you've made to the lindy article are great. I'd tried to retain a lot of the stuff that was originally in the article, rather than just being brave and cutting out extraneous material. Rock on. PlainJane 11:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, once a week or so's passed on the proposals page there should hopefully be some consensus as to what should and shouldn't be made - after that it's pretty much fair game, either you could make them yourself or wait until we've got round to it.

If you decide to make them yourself, try to follow the same sort of pattern as other stubs (have a look at one or two and copy and paste what looks appropriate as a basis for the new templates and categories), and also list the new stub type(s) at WP:WSS/ST in the appropriate section. If you make any mistakes in making the new template and category they're sure to get fixed pretty quickly, but mistakes in naming can be a pain, so be careful with that! ...for the barnstar. That's the first star I've had since my gold-star on "Lightly Row" on the violin when I was three! Yes, the FAC was interesting, but I'm not passionate about being promoted. As long as the article is up there somewhere, it's fine with me. I did that Weapon Dance thing in a hurry and have not looked at it recently. It was sort of a spin-off from a short section in the Music of Italy article, so I sort of left it hanging. It needs work--probably some sort of anthropological insight. Nice going! I have fond memories of all that free beer. Interesting coincidence: I solicited an item about the caverns beneath Naples from a friend. I just put it up at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beneath_Naples (I spend most of waking wiki time trying to fix up the stuff about Naples.) Hi, again. About refs for Beneath Naples. I got the information from a friend who writes the English language translations for the Naples Underground website at http://www.napoliunderground.org/?newlang=eng . He writes for them and I said, Send me something for Wikipedia. I guess the real reference is that website. It's linked on the "external link" at the bottom, as well. Thanks for your contribution to that Lifespring page, William, but I am going to give upo on it. It is vandalized multiple times a day, and the admin here refuses to page protect it. Just give me a lot of blather about "assuming good faith" and "try to achieve consensus". Kinda hard to to that when the vandals are mostly anon IPs. I'm very much in favor of this idea. In fact, I've always believed that individual dance moves didn't merit their own article on Wikipedia (with the exception of a few major ones, such as swingout and aerial). Since dance moves are generally taught in classes, there is generally little to no published information about them, and any information that is published could be drastically different from what most people are actually taught. In addition, most dance move articles will never have enough content to be much more than a stub. Also, I think that spreading all this information over so many dance move articles borders on fancruft. In my opinion, they should either be merged into the main dance article or merged into a list (like the list of lindy hop moves). Wikibooks is a much better venue for discussion how to dance, which is what most of the articles do, and I think it would be great for lindy hop to have some recognition there as well. Unfortuntely, I don't have the time to work on both Wikipedia and Wikibooks, but I'll be willing to handle any work on the Wikipedia side of this. —Cswrye 23:55, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Now that most of the dance move articles have been moved to Wikibooks, what do you think about deleting the category Category:Lindy Hop dance moves and moving the relevant articles (such as swingout) up to category Category:Lindy Hop? I think that the dance moves category is getting too small to be useful, and it may be more useful to have the useful lindy hop moves in the main category rather than splitting them up. —Cswrye 07:29, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I have one more suggestion. What do you think about merging the Charleston (dance move) article into the Charleston (dance) article? I doubt that there is much we could say about the dance move that wouldn't already be on the dance article, and if we're minimizing the dance move articles, this looks like an ideal candidate for doing so. —Cswrye 06:57, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

I put up a short item on the so-called Campanian volcanic arc. If you have time, give it a glance. Maybe there is a "Did you know?" thing in there. Thank you for your congratulations. I'm feeling very good about having gotten such a complicated article to featured status, and I really appreciate the help that you gave at peer review stage. I think that an article is much better received as a FAC if it's already had a good copyedit first.

Hmm...I'm not sure if a WikiProject would be all that helpful, but then again, it couldn't hurt either. It could be especially good if we expand to more lindy hop articles. If you want to go through with it, I'll support you. It will be you and me, and maybe PlainJane will get time to help out with it as well. There have also been a few other editors that have popped in every now and then, like Dancefusion and Azeroth. The ballet WikiProject looks pretty good, so it can serve as a good model. It might be good to look at some other WikiProjects to see how they've handled things (although it's a completely unrelated topic, Wikipedia:WikiProject Final Fantasy has been very successful). Far from it. I was attempting to explain the rationale behind my decisions in the hope of potentially clarifying what I had originally written. If you didn't see the themes I was trying to incorporate, that could very well be because I didn't explain them well enough. I would very much appreciate your thoughts on what themes would work best for unifying a Solar System article. I really am somewhat at a loss as to how to proceed at the moment.
