Spanish empire

Hello, how are you? Recently a user Fireinthegol has appeared in the talk page of Spanish Empire, and he looks like a clone of EuroHistoryTeacher. At the moment he has not done any change in the article, nevertheless he is raising theories that are original analysis of the primary-sources, while the secondary sources that I contribute, stated the opposite that he affirms. He ignore what I say to him about the policy of wikipedia in this matter. You can see the whole issue in the talk page. What I want to ask you is that before that the matter become grave and the inhabitants of Sauron's kingdom (trolls ...) appear, should I notify a administrator now? And in affirmative case, which would be the correct link to do it? Thank you. Trasamundo (talk) 14:23, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

British Empire

He's also popped up there (Redhat knows this already) but the amusing thing is when I saw his comments the first thing I thought was "it looks like a clone of Eurohistoryteacher"... Redhat - thanks for pointing out the ANI notice. Wiki-Ed (talk) 10:25, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

EuroHistoryTeacher

Yes... and he has been busy at the commons! Have you gone there? The Ogre (talk) 17:24, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Response at my talk page

Also, we could use some fresh input at Talk:British West Indies#Corrections Talk:Thirteen Colonies#Revolution vs. rebellion. I don't know if the article is within your interests, but you might have a fresh viewpoint, whatever it is! - BilCat (talk) 02:31, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Non-Gibraltarians

No worries. The thing is they were indeed born in Gibraltar but that does not mean they were Gibraltarian. --Gibmetal 77talk 15:11, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Justin

Please don't bait him, Red Hat. I always give you the benefit of the doubt but really, that post on his user talk page was never going to do anything but annoy him, which you should know by now. --Narson ~ Talk 22:46, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As hard as this may be for you to believe, though I know how easily written communication can be misinterpreted, that was not a baiting - the exclamation mark was supposed to be friendly. Maybe I should have put in a smiley too. When I say "life's too short", I really mean it. We only have a few decades on this planet, and they may be cut short at any time. When we are on our deathbeds, whenever that might be, will we look on squabbling on Wikipedia with pride? Furthermore, who's going to ensure our desired edit remains in the article when we're gone?! Sometimes a bit of perspective helps, even if it's from someone you disagree with. [1] The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick t 23:13, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In my life, I've survived bone cancer, being bombed by the USAF, a helicopter crash, being shot at by a 14.5mm machine gun and bouncing down the motorway in a burning Ford Transit. I could add being shot in the leg but that was an accident with a blank so its less dramatic than it sounds. I have a very good perspective about life, equally I get really pissed off with being pushed around and get more stubborn than you can possibly imagine. Will you please stop baiting and going after Gibnews, there is a decent guy under that gruff exterior. Every time I think you're a half-decent guy you do something like baiting Gibnews to piss me off. And reverting today. What pisses me off is a solution being imposed, rather than trying to persuade me otherwise. You'll never get me to accept being bullied or bounced into something that I have an issue with. I really don't trust Imalbornoz, he is a civil POV pusher and I have a problem believing that you can't see it. Justin talk 23:42, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh fuck it, don't know I bothered. There is some paint drying that is more interesting than chatting with you. Justin talk 00:24, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Be nice please! :-) The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick t 00:29, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No really, my initial assessment was that you were just a wind up merchant. Thanks for proving me correct. Swivel. Justin talk 00:36, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Red Hat, I don't share your opinion on Justin, but I feel that your absence is a big loss. Could you reconsider your break? Thank you --Ecemaml (talk) 13:10, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the support but ultimately I don't care about it enough to waste my time arguing about it and hence lining myself up for the abuse involved. If hitting your head against a brick wall is painful, then stop doing it. There is plenty of other stuff to be getting on with at WP, like my true passion, which is European colonialism. The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick t 14:27, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Red Hat, I completely sympathise with you on the pain of discussing in the Gib article and on the shortness of life (I am very optimistic about the future of medicine, though, probably without any real basis - it keeps me happy in spite of what I've seen in people around me so far).

Please, do not leave because of the pressure from some bad tempered editors, that would only prove them right. May I suggest that, if discussing there is too painful, you just walk by the article once in a while in order to let others know your opinion? BTW, there is a poll now; I saw your comment about using your name for the consensus and so on, and expressed what you would have said. Nevertheless, it felt kind of strange to do that so I immediately reverted... Vote if you want (please)... (or not...)

BTW, you know, when things get too ugly in certain environments, I can relax if I look at them from the POV of a member of the audience of a Monty Python film or something like that (it happened to me in the military service and -again lately- in the Gib discussion, I don't know why my subconscious has connected those two very surreal environments...) Thank you for everything (and hope to see you around the Gib article once in a while... ;-) ).-- Imalbornoz (talk) 15:29, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you may not know me but i've the "pleasure" of dealing with Justin before and i must say you and Imalbornoz must have the patience of a saint. I was following the Gibraltar epic during January and early Febuary (including Justins dramatic if short lived retirement). You were both (and still are) very courtious and patient in the face of his abuse. You and Imalbornoz deserve a barnstar for staying cool and courtious when dealing with him. Cheers.--English Bobby (talk) 17:30, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks English Bobby. I too have been most impressed with Imalbornoz. He's the one who deserves the barnstar. The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick t 00:45, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You both do, really. Don't quit any article just because of some angry fella who has nothing better to do but argue with everyone. He's confident because he's protected, thats why you and Imalbornoz get that abuse all the time. I've seen alot of others blocked indefinatly for less, believe me. Anyway happy editing.--English Bobby (talk) 16:06, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re WP:CPUSH

Sorry about the delay; definitely. Do you know about WP:PLAGUE and my own WP:MARTIANS? The Digwuren arbitration decision is a precedent that ought to be applied more widely to regional disputes. Gordonofcartoon (talk) 02:36, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Too late

Already restored it with a request to replace cites not remove them; if as you claim they're easily replacable that shouldn't be too hard. Threats to go nuclear at AN/I for what reason exactly? For being unaware of a community discussion I guess I missed when I wasn't editing. Justin talk 14:06, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and check your "buddies" contribution history. Ciao. Justin talk 14:07, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not as hilarious as yours!--English Bobby (talk) 15:37, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hi, Red Hat, I'd like to publicly thank your efforts to support me. I don't think you've done it because of a special affection towards me, but because you think some behaviours are damaging the project, something I agree with. I have no special interest in pursuing actively this COI issue (I guess that the information might be privately delivered to the ArbCom) but the gibnews.com issue is potentially much more serious. Anyway, I'll return to my articles (I'm proposing Our Lady of Europe for good article; if you have suggestions with regard to its enhancement, please, they'll be welcome). Best regards and, again, thank you --Ecemaml (talk) 12:28, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Arbcom case

You are involved in a recently-filed request for arbitration. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests#Gibraltar and, if you wish to do so, enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit to the Arbitration Committee. Additionally, the following resources may be of use—

Thanks, EyeSerenetalk 13:35, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I rather suspect you will come out of the arbitration process somewhat less favourably than you appear to imagine. And it'll hurt a lot of other people along the way. Sad really and avoidable. Justin the Evil Scotman talk 14:32, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You really do misunderstand me. If the problems at the Gibraltar space get cleared up via topic bans in which I'm included then I'm more than happy, because if I'm in line for a ban then you and Gibnews certainly will be too, and it's you two who are the main problem. There is plenty of other stuff to be doing at WP. One of the main reasons I have stuck around at Gib is to act as a check and balance against Gibnews and lately you. Note an editor implored me to com back from my self imposed exile. So I did. And now we're where we are. The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick t 14:48, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Red Hat! you have a message here. Cheers! The Ogre (talk) 16:57, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Notification

To Red Hat! I created article on my user page out of personal interest. Moreover, aim 'NOT' trying to host a parallel encyclopaedia. I put warning message there in case other users would try to vandalise it. Mackay 86 (talk) 22:42, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About my user page

To Red Hat as stated earlier where is the problem of just having a few info boxes on my user page just out of historical interest, as LessHeard vanU is acting childish about it. If im wrong is there somewhere on wikipedia ie my account i could put this on Mackay 86 (talk) 23:37, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom case has opened

An Arbitration case involving you has been opened, and is located here. Please add any evidence you may wish the Arbitrators to consider to the evidence sub-page, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gibraltar/Evidence. Please submit your evidence within one week, if possible. You may also contribute to the case on the workshop sub-page, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gibraltar/Workshop.

Use of rollback

Hello. Your use of rollback here was unacceptable. Please only use it when reverting vandalism. Whilst the edit was correct, it should have been left to the case clerk to do as you are clearly involved here. Ryan PostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 12:54, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. Perhaps the banner at the top should say "should be reverted by a clerk" then? The Red Hat of Pat Ferrick t 12:55, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps, I'll look into it - I'll have to come up with some wording. My main concern was the use of rollback but I think you understand why it was unacceptable now. Ryan PostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or let's have banter 15:08, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gibraltar/Evidence

I've removed the section on COI - it was getting far too close to outing in my opinion. If you wish to pursue this further, please do so by emailing the Arbitration Committee directly (arbcom-l@lists.wikimedia.org. Please don't readd the material.
