If you want to make test edits, you can use the main sandbox (WP:SAND). If you want a sandbox for yourself, you should make a page in your namespace. To do that, you create a page at User:Phil_burnstein/whateverpageyouwant. For instance, to make yourself a sandbox, you might want to make a page at User:Phil_burnstein/Sandbox. Hi Phil,

As Al Ameer Son says, the Wikiproject is not limited to Palestinians, so of course you can join. To answer your other questions, according to the Palestine Liberation Organization definition for the Palestinian people, any Jew who is a descendent of someone who was resident in Palestine prior to what they call the "Zionist invasion" (which most date to the signing of the Balfour Declaration in 1917) is considered to be part of the Palestinian people. Of course, identity is self-defined and cannot be imposed on anyone, so you would have to think of yourself as Palestinian to qualify as one. :) You might want to read two articles that cover some aspects of people in your situation - one is Palestinian Jew (which needs work actually) and the other is Arab Jew#Palestine. Anyway, I, as a self-identifying Palestinian whose family roots in Nazareth go back centuries, but who currently holds Israeli citizenship, would be very happy to count you among our people, if you felt that that's who you wanted to identify with. :) Welcome to Wikipedia! Dear Phil,

I was deeply moved by your comments on my talk page. I too have struggled for many years with the issue of identity and have come to similar conclusions regarding its mutliple layers. It is quite true that I chosen to privilege my Palestinian identity over the many others, and that has been a conscious choice, one that developed over time for many reasons too numerous to explain here.

Funny you would mention the Jerusalemite identity. I once wrote an article on Jerusalemites which was deleted and merged to Demographics of Jerusalem. What I found most beautiful about most of those who identified as Jerusalemites (in Arabic, qudsi, or loosely "one who lives in the sacred place") was the consciousness of the multiplicity and plurality of the inhabitants of the city and its culture, which was widely celebrated amongst those who proudly claimed it as their identity. Your sentiments follow in that fine and proud tradition.

About the Wikiprojects here, there is one in which you would not have to choose between Palestine and Israel. I forgot to mention it to you at the time (to be honest, I keep forgetting the link because of its length and only manage to find it when it appears on my watchlist), but here it is now: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Israel Palestine Collaboration‎. I think it might be the perfect place for you to start, since you are obviously interested in collaboration on subjects related to both. I do hope you will join us there. I also sincerely hope that one day you will be able to return to Jerusalem, without having to make a choice between what are at present, two rather mutually exclusive identities. Thank you for rewriting this section. This was one of my early contributions to Wikipedia back when I had nothing to do. I picked it up from a "to do" list to convert from the Catholic Encyclopedia of 1913. I had many compunctions about it afterward! Regarding your question, I usually say "Ramadan karim" (lit. "Generous Ramadan") or "Ramadan mubarak" (lit. "Blessed Ramadan") during the fasting period itself I don't know what people say in English, but you could probably say "Happy Ramadan" (for sure at the end of the fasting period, during the celebrations, this would be perfectly fine and I don't think anyone would be offended by its use prior, though I could be wrong.) We also say the same greeting said on Christmas and on birthdays during Ramadan, (it's the kind of catch-all holiday greeting) which is "Kol sini wa inta salam" ("(May) every year (find) you in peace.") When speaking to a woman, you would say, "Kol sini wa inti salmi." (The endings of "you" and "peace" changing to reflect the feminine.) I hope that answers your question. To get a list of all subpages of a page, use Special:Prefixindex and type the parent page name followed by a slash. For example, for all subpages of User:Example, type User:Example/ in the search box and hit Go: Special:Prefixindex/User:Example/

Hi there. Simply copy and paste. To create a new subpage, such as Jewish commentaries on the Bible/subpage, all you have to do is go to the non-existent page and create it. That easy. All respect to Rashi, but he is not an expert on French. Unless we can figure out what French word he's referring to precisely, keeping "eshtordishon" (a word that, with that spelling, does not exist in French, nor can I think of one that would be pronounced that way but spelt somehow else) in the article (especially w/o saying it's from Rashi) is dubious at best. Thank you, I'm quite familiar with Rashi, his writings, and the conditions of the Jewish communities of the area at the time. The fact remains that saying that Rashi wrote that eshtordishon was a French equivalent (apparently meaning "astonishment") of a Hebrew word in B'reshith, leaves us with little information other than the apparent fact that a word has gone missing from French sometime in the past millennium. While my French is far from fluent, the only words that are coming to mind are things like "extradition", and others which have no plausible connection with a meaning of astonishment.
