Orphaned non-free image File:Cover art Vixen 1.gif

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Cover art Vixen 1.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 17:37, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not take copyrighted material from TCM - see WP:COPYVIO. Besides, while TCM synopses are pretty accurate, they're not always right. Thank you. Clarityfiend (talk) 13:58, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your addition of that image to that article per WP:NFC#UUI #6. We already have an article about that image, and therefore per the Foundation's requirement that we limit the use of non-free images, we should place a pointer to the image's article. The link to the image's article is prominently featured in the section on the author's article. Please do not restore the image to his page again. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 15:37, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect license use

You uploaded File:Jet magazine 52.jpg Acquanetta.jpg using a license covering comic books, then uploaded it to a biography article. This is problematic for two reasons: 1) Jet Magazine is not a comic book, it is a magazine/periodical, so the license does not apply and 2) even if the license was correct, it does cover the use of the image in an article outside of the specific comic or its characters (not the person who portrayed the character).--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:03, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How do I fix this? I am only trying to post an image of Acquanetta on her article. This is my second attempt, and I see on the article's talk page, it has been tried before.Inkwell765 (talk) 21:23, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You need to either find a free image or upload one under a suitable license (which is often easier said than done and why many Wikipedia articles lack images). The kind volunteers here may be able to assist.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:45, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well then maybe you should check my edit for Carroll Borland. I used an excerpt from a movie poster on that one. With Borland being the model for female vampires, it's almost impossible to find a picture that actually is her!Inkwell765 (talk) 01:24, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of House of the Damned (1963 film), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.primewiremovies.org/movie/98216/house-of-the-damned-1963.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Hi Inkwell765, (i noticed your message on Tokyogirl79 talkpage) you were listing the references twice in the 'References' section of the article; by having a reflist tag and by manually typing your two refs there. i have fixed it for you, only issue is they may not be deemed reliable (please see my edit summary under the 'view history' tab of the article). By the way, WP:CITE has some good info on references. Coolabahapple (talk) 16:59, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In the meantime, anything you want to do to buff up the article would best be done in the next few days (if possible; don't worry about it, it's already OK) since there's a one-week-from-creation deadline for WP:DYK entries. Replaceable fair use File:Badlands Guardian.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Badlands Guardian.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 23:25, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Flatwoods monster.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Flatwoods monster.gif

Thank you for uploading File:Flatwoods monster.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. McGeddon (talk) 14:23, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

QPQ credit.

I just completed my first review, and I don't know where to see my credit for it. Do I have to put in myself? Inkwell765 (talk) 04:21, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry for the time it took to get to this. I did not know a whole lot about DYK so I had to do some research first. According to the rules page, You can do your QPQ review before or after you make your nomination, but for your nomination to be approved you will need to provide a link, at your nomination, to your completed QPQ review. So, I do not think it is recorded anywhere. Just make sure to link to the one you completed when you do your next nomination. If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Stabila711 (talk) 08:01, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Re: QPQ credit.

QPQ credits do not "age out". If you check some of my recent DYK submissions, you will see I have been recently using reviews performed back in 2012 for my QPQs. Just keep track of the reviews you have performed and use them when it comes time to make new submissions. As long as you don't try to game the system (there have been instances where people have tried to use a single QPQ multiple times), there should be no problems. --Allen3 talk 18:16, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. I do have access to newspapers.com via Wikipedia, but there are dozens of similarly very short obituaries in local newspapers...I can't find a longer obituary in The Los Angeles Times for example. There should be one, but I am not sure how to find it.Zigzig20s (talk) 07:17, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Pep Comics panel.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Pep Comics panel.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Replaceable fair use File:William Christopher.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:William Christopher.jpg.

Thank you. --Animalparty! (talk) 19:53, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:15, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:Project X (1968 film).jpg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic . Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 22:51, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Revert from The City of the Dead

You reverted what was simply a fix of the link. The City of the Dead (disambiguation) doesn't exist anymore, it causes a redirect to The City of the Dead which is a disambiguation page. Please undo. Kumagoro-42 (talk) 14:34, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't done anything with links. I added The City of the Dead to the Amicus template, (along with The People that Time Forgot) and added the US poster.
