Thanks for your contributions to Boston Brahmins and some individual family pages. Under Wikipedia policy, factual claims need to be backed up by reliable sources. These need to show not just that certain members of certain families are prominent or rich, but that they're part of the "Brahmin" elite. Hello Macrakis, I am editing it due to proofs of a grandfather from a friend who is also a history professional and has shown it to us in a very old book written by hand and somehow rare, that's why I am just increasing these few informations. I will no longer use the words as prominent or wealthy, even tho it was meant like that on that book, please just allow me to add those topics from this book. If it is a published book, you should cite it when you use facts from it. If it is not, then it doesn't qualify as a reliable source because it is not verifiable. I note that many of the families you mention aren't talked about in standard sources for the Brahmins, e.g., Cleveland Amory's Proper Bostonians. --Macrakis (talk) 14:07, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there are some other Boston Brahmins that are not as famous as Lowells or Cabots, for example. But they are considered so, that is why I am just trying to add their existence and who they are, since it's a very old book that he has.

The "ping" command needs two open braces and two close braces....

WP is founded on sources. That is, we need documentation that this or that family is considered a member of the "Boston Brahmins". We can't conclude that family X is considered Brahmin just because rich, prominent, and Bostonian -- in WP terms, that kind of reasoning is called synthesis and is a form of original research. After all, "Even old-family white Anglo-Saxon Protestants, however wealthy they may be now, are looked down on by authentic Brahmins as “swamp Yankees.”"[1]

If there are families that are "considered" Brahmins, we need specific evidence of that. You mention this old book. Who wrote it? Was it ever published?

As for ancestry, there are generally multiple families with the same name. Someone named Buckingham may descent from a Duke, or may have been a peasant on his lands who took the name. Or for that matter may have been an immigrant named Bukowski who decided to anglicize their name. So "surname" pages don't talk about individual families. If there is good documentation that certain people are members of a certain family, that can be included on a page about the family (not the surname). --Macrakis (talk) 17:36, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LeRoy Percy was the grandson of Charles "Don Carlos" Percy, who arrived in Florida from Ireland. Nothing Boston Brahmin about him. If your old book claims that he was Boston Brahmin, that makes me think that you should take everything in that book with a grain of salt, and certainly not use it as a source for Wikipedia articles. --Macrakis (talk) 13:22, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
