Victoria Sokari is an academic librarian who currently works as a Senior Librarian in the University Library, Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. She is a professional Librarian with almost 10 years cognate practical experience. She had her first degree in Library and Information Sciences and a Masters Degree in the same course. Presently, she is conducting her PhD research in the same program. Victoria Sokari worked as the Head of the Cataloguing Unit of the library and is currently the Head of the Faculty of Education Library which is a branch of the University Library where she works. She has also served at various committees both within and outside her University. She served as a member of the planning committee in the just concluded 2021 Linked Data (LD4) conference and is the current Co-chair for the CORE Bibliographic Conceptual Model (BCMI) Interest Group. Her area of specialization includes knowledge organization; Cataloguing/metadata and; ICTs as it relates to metadata librarianship. She is a Certified Librarian registered with the Librarian's Registration Council of Nigeria; Member, Nigerian Library Association (NLA); Member, Cataloguing, Classification and Indexing Section of NLA. She has attended both local and international conferences, seminars and workshops where she either presented papers or served as a resource person. Among the international confernces she attended is the recently concluded 2021 Linked Data Conference. She is a published author in both local and international journals (can be found on Google Scholar; Research Gate; Academia). She is skilled in the use of ICTs. She has participated and still participating in many online courses organized by American Library Association (ALA) (the CORE Fundamentals of Collection Development and Fundamentals of Metadata course); African Library and Information Association & Institutions (AFLIA) (ongoing Wikipedia for African Libraries) and other numerous other webinars related to her proffession in which she was awarded certificates. She is also an active reviewer with a couple of databases/journals like Academia, Library philosophy and Practice e-journal among others.
