The Battle of Vo Mimbre was a fictional battle in David Eddings' Belgarath the Sorcerer that took place in the year 4875 (Alorn Calendar) between the Kingdoms of the West and the Angaraks, and was the end of a terrible, bloody, ten year long war, as well as the supposed death of Kal Torak.
Background
In the year 4865 A.C. the Angaraks, under the command of the god Torak, invaded the kingdom of Drasnia and destroyed it, leaving few survivors. Then, they proceeded to invade Algaria, but after 7 years of combat, he withdrew and invaded Arendia. As he proceeded to the Mimbrate capital, Vo Mimbre, he was stalled by Mimbrate and Asturian bridge wreckers. As the armies of the West were closing in on the city, Torak knew that he had to defeat the Arendish defenders quickly.
Day One
The first thing that happened on the first day was a barrage from the catapults of Kal Torak. Soon, Angarak troops were moving behind the catapults to prepare for the assault. It was then that the Asturian bowmen opened fire. The Angaraks were forced to fall back, and the Mimbrate Arends destroyed the catapults with axes. With the siege engines gone, Zedar had no choice but to launch a full assault on the front gate. After suffering literally thousands of casualties, Zedar was forced to abandon the attack and pull back out of range of the walls. The defenders in the city dropped burning bushes over the wall to prevent a night assault.
Day Two
On the second day, Zedar created a dozen mangonels to batter the walls. Although they caused plenty of damage, the Brotherhood of Sorcerers created their own mangonels, and destroyed Zedar's. Zedar was forced to mount another assault, but this time, he released a gale to deflect the Asturian arrows. The Brotherhood concidered the problem, and set a barrier of pure will in the way. The Asturians opened fire, and the result was the same as the first day.
Then, the Grolims dried out the sand and created a dust storm to conceal another assault. This time, the sorcerers in the city created a waterspout to settle the dirt, and Belgarath made Zedar very itchy so that he couldn't do anything else.
Day Three
Day 3 was fairly quiet at first. Then the horns began to signal. The West was trying to find out when everyone was in position. After a while, the Murgos and Nadraks sent out scouts to find out what was happening, but none of them returned. Then, a great fanfare from the west announced that the legions of Tolnedra were in position, and the Mimbrate knights charged out of the city. Soon after, the Algars, Drasnians, Tolnedrans, and Chereks charged in from all sides. Zedar, seeing no alternative, committed his reserves, and that was when the Asturians, Sendars, and Rivans joined the fight. When Torak discovered this, he left his pavilion, and was challenged to a duel by Brand, the Rivan Warder. He threatened to kill Belgarath, and proposed marriage to Polgara. Then he dueled with Brand. Eventually, Torak struck a blow on Brand's shoulder, and Brand uncovered his shield to reveal the Orb of Aldur. Torak was distracted long enough for Brand to stab him in the eye.
Aftermath
When Torak fell, many Angaraks attempted to flee, but many were slaughtered. At the end of the day, very few Angaraks were still alive. Brand wanted to look at Torak's body, but Zedar had spirited it away during the night, because Torak was only in a coma. The leaders of the West got together and made the Accords of Vo Mimbre to prepare the way for the Godslayer.
