CAPP

Concerned Association of Patients and Providers is a grassroots effort to protect Michigan's unique auto no fault system.

The insurance coalition has made numerous attempts to weaken or destroy Michigan's unique auto no fault system.. Although there are several other States with an auto no fault system, Michigan's system is unique because catastrophically injured citizens are protected with reasonable and necessary care for their lifetime.

Until the formation of CAPP, the primary group fighting for the citizens of Michigan to preserve the State's auto no fault system was CPAN - Coalition Protecting Auto No Fault. After the insurance coalition attempted to dismantle Michigan's auto no fault system again, in 2011, via House Bill 4936, approximately 10 members of the Coalition Protecting Auto No Fault, gathered to address the creation of a grassroots approach to defend the auto no fault system in Michigan.

With the assistance of a prior State Senator, the group began a strategic plan to penetrate the minds of the legislators in the Michigan House and Senate., The group later was referred to as "The Eastsiders".

As the Eastsiders, the group implemented numerous activities to bring attention to their cause. In addition to their constant trips to Lansing to speak with members of the House and Senate, they have had addressed their concerns by writing, emailing and faxing the legislators, standing in front of the voting polls, attending legislative fundraisers, and writing to the Press. One of their more successful events was a Southfield Michigan rally in October 2011.

As with any organization, band, company, etc,, change was inevitable. Some of the original members chose to embark on their own path, and the remaining members decided to focus on their growth. They filed as a corporation - Concerned Association of Patients and Providers. As with all corporations, CAPP has a corporate resolution, a Board of Directors, a decisive strategy, and more. Among their marking tools, they attract new business via their Facebook page.

HB 4936 never passed off of the House Floor by the end of 2012. As such, HB 4612 had did. When the new House legislative body, Representative Lund, with the support of Governor Snyder, introduced HB 4612 as the auto no fault reform Bill. Despite the fact that the Bill quickly passed out of the House Insurance Committee, organizations such as CAPP and CPAN have been active in protecting thhe benefits provided by the existing auto no fault system. Among the many activities organized by CAPP, they held a rally in Farmington Hills in May 2013 due to the success of their Eastsiders rally in Suuthfiield, Michigan rally 1 1/2 years earlier.
