No offense, but it might be better to have to separate tables for the books and tv show, especially if they continue to divert from each other.

This template is just for True Blood the television series, and it shouldn't appear on any articles about The Southern Vampire Mysteries. -Hooliganb (talk) 22:34, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Characters are getting out of control

The character section of this template is becoming morbidly obese, and the organization system currently being used is too sloppy to work in this format. Is there another way of organizing this or a criteria that would qualify which characters should be added to it that would keep things from looking so haphazard? -Hooliganb (talk) 22:31, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When I expanded it I copied the layout of The Wire, focusing on the characters and linking the seasons. Feel free to reorganize it. Darrenhusted (talk) 00:20, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the layout works well for that template because the characters are organized so neatly in each of the categories. In True Blood, though, some categories have three characters, others have ten or so, and (since the series is ongoing) it's hard to tell which ones are significant enough to be on the template. I can try moving things around, but other opinions or input on who should be on the template would be helpful. -Hooliganb (talk) 03:39, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think Oz is the better template to follow in this instance. Therea lot of characters on the Oz template, some only in one episode, but it's easy to read because of the different catagories. I think that True Blood is going to continue expanding its characters and we should include minor characters like Daphne and Dawn, and it won't get too hard to read. We'll just rank them in order of importance (even though that itself is somewhat subjective).
Also, instead of having a fellowship of the sun catagory, we should just make it "other", and that Maryanne be included in that catagory. We should also make a non-Louisianna Vampires catagory.75.42.53.53 (talk) 05:08, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Oz template may look nicer but it has no links to characters, and the episode and season pages are a mess. The Wire is a featured article. Darrenhusted (talk) 12:11, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I agree, the Oz page is a mess, whereas The Wire page is awesome. But I feel like the way True Blood deals with its characters is more similar to Oz than The Wire. What I mean is to say that characters from The Wire tend to stick around a long time, with certain exception, whereas Oz loves to makes characters inportant for only a couple episodes and then kill them, which True Blood has proven to do. Thats why, in template alone, we should model it slightly closer to Oz.75.42.53.53 (talk) 05:07, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I feel like having an "others" catagory and a "Non-Louisianna Vampires" catagory are catagories that are probably going to expand, and I also want a format that can neatly fit the most characters. Is this too much, though?:

Yes, that is too much, the minor characters were separated so they could be contained in one link rather than multiple character links. Only the principal cast and characters should be on the template. Darrenhusted (talk) 13:27, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I admit I went a little crazy, but I do believe there should be a place on the template for characters like Godric and Lorena.75.42.71.167 (talk) 20:33, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
