When I created this template, I realised that it would become quite large, due to the large number of pages on this subject, however this template is clearly too long now. I suggest we do something. (Midnightblueowl (talk) 18:16, 2 February 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Suggestion taken, one group removed (parodies and pastiches is now one entry in miscellany). Other targets of reduction may be "locations", "video games", and some of the "other works" (which are in some cases very very minor). But it is a major topic (Tintin and Hergé), so a small template will be hard to achieve. Fram (talk) 11:29, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ringbang, also Midnightblueowl, and possibly Fram may be listening to the reawakening of this discussion that was begun five, no six, years ago. Thanks Ringbang, with your edit, it looks much tidier now. Now I wish I didn't, but I'm afraid I do have the following objections to the removal of the "Other series" and would like it put it back:

• While I understand the concern of a large template, the fact remains that this particular large template was wonderfully complete, with little chance of any new articles ever needing to be added. Now the 100 percent complete template has been reduced to perhaps 95 percent complete, just to save a narrow 5 percent band of space.
• The narrow band of space includes only these few articles, some of which are about to be made GA: The Adventures of Totor (1926), Quick and Flupke (1930–40), Popol out West (1934), Jo, Zette and Jocko (1936–57), and Minor comics by Hergé (1928–69)
• Returning the "Other series" to the template will restore the intent implied by the Template's title: Tintin and Hergé.

I agree, the other series need coverage in a navbox. However, although the technical name of this template is "Tintin and Hergé", users don't see that. The heading of the navbox, which users do see, is "The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé". I may be missing something, but it seems that apart from the "Other series" list, all of the content in the navbox was added because of its connection to Tintin. All the "collaborators"? Tintin. Publishers? Tintin. Locations? Tintin. In fact, the only links that are not exclusively about Tintin are Hergé Foundation, Ligne claire, and Musée Hergé, which are present because they are relevant to Tintin. There is no effort to so exhaustively list links related to Hergé's other comics series. Since the topic of Tintin is already so large, perhaps it's best if we don't pretend that this is a navbox about everything pertaining to Hergé.

Since we still should account for the other comics, I made a second navbox, and here it is: Template:Comics by Hergé. What do you think? Ringbang (talk) 00:59, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
