Non-free audio example

The .ogg file File:Lady Gaga - Applause (Music Sample).ogg has been nominated for deletion. Regardless of whether it is deleted, its usage here should be supported by relevant discussion of what is heard on the sample, supported by cites. Currently, the only thing we are telling the reader about the sample is that it has "stuttering" synthesizers that recall Gaga's Fame work. The audio sample, however, does not highlight the pulsating or stuttering synths.

The cited sources for this are the following:

  • Digital Spy saying, "Coincidentally the track's hi-NRG beats and stuttering synths aren't too dissimilar from a warning alarm..."
  • Idolator saying, "The opening, pulsating synths are a straight-up throwback to the 'Poker Face' intro—albeit slightly sped up—while the handclap-laden chorus swells and soars with the same pop frenzy that made 'Paparazzi' such a delight."

These sources don't match the selected portion of the .ogg file, which fails to show the beginning with "pulsating synths", fails to show a "hand-clap laden chorus", and fails to show "stuttering synths". If someone wishes to show these things, then a different section of the song should be uploaded. Binksternet (talk) 21:56, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

release date incorrect

I saw an earlier suggestion about this, but it appears to have been changed back. Release date is nov.11, not 6th http://www.mtv.com/news/1710440/lady-gaga-artpop-announcement/ Lacyriona (talk) 13:42, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The 6th actually is correct, and we're supposed to use the earliest known release date. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 15:36, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 29 April 2023

Artpop should be written as ARTPOP 2A00:23C6:7D90:8601:C5CE:73CB:8F4B:5405 (talk) 13:30, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}} template. And also read MOS:TMRULES. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:43, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot find any support for the name of this album being Artpop instead of ARTPOP. Wikipedia seems to be the only place that claims it to be the case. Some names have one spelling or way of being written and are stylized differently (e.g., the iPhone 6s stylized as iPhone 6🅂), but that is not the case here. @RoyLeban: Then file a move request, which is how consensus is achieved in order to move titles, and as per Paper9oll pointed out above, WP:TMRULES applies. Sources are not consistent on how they render this title. Ss112 13:45, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ARTPOP is her 4th album, not 3rd

Lady Gaga has released, as of July 2024, 6 studio albums:

1. The Fame

2. The Fame Monster

3. Born This Way

4. ARTPOP

5. Joanne

6. Chromatica

she stated herself that she considers "the fame monster" an album of its own. not an EP as many say on the internet. therefore, ARTPOP is her 4th album not 3rd.

source: here's 3 example interviews where she herself stated that it's a new album of its own:

- Alexa Chung Interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3Z_aMFd-0Q) (skip to 4:45)

- Fuse On the Record Inrerview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ5UQOMlEQo) (skip to 10:00)

- Rolling Stone Interview (https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/lady-gaga-unleashes-monster-with-dr-dre-headphones-first-song-next-singer-on-new-tracks-234443/) 105.98.222.19 (talk) 03:55, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

She seems to be using album loosely in those instances based on how the deluxe version of The Fame Monster contains tracks from The Fame. When people talk about it being an EP, they mean the standard edition without previously released songs. With that said, Artpop is her third, and actually Gaga has released seven in total so far (you wrongfully ignored the albums made with Tony Bennett and yes they DO count towards her overall totals). SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 04:11, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
well... no. she used to refer to Chromatica as LG6 as you can see here:
- https://x.com/ladygaga/status/1253065321025433600?s=19
so, if Chromatica is her 6th there's no way any other numbering of her release SOLO albums that would make sense other than the one i provided which is backed up by actual proof not just assumptions...
also, even in teasing her next album, she's referring to it as LG7.
- here's when she first teased LG7 at the end Chromatica Ball Film: https://x.com/itsKenBarbie/status/1794520193705943469 105.98.222.19 (talk) 04:43, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We shouldn't treat vague descriptions as indicators of an album count (especially when they're not even formal names). However, getting back to Artpop itself here, I'm still inclined to say third since The Fame Monster combining newer tracks with songs from The Fame makes it hard to take the notion of it being a separate album at face value. That being more of a reissue wouldn't affect the totals here. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 14:38, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
