Carnegie

Olivaw-Daneel not sure what to make of this. On p. 240, Smith (2002) says she was "short-listed three times for the Carnegie Medal, the most prestigious accolade of children’s literature". We have Carnegie twice. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:53, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The same page (240) summarizes that Philosopher's Stone won 21 awards in four years, in case you can make use of that. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:56, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think Smith is mistaken; this post from the ALA mentions only 2 Carnegie noms. I can't find a nomination for either Chamber of Secrets or Goblet of Fire, the only other books Smith could have been referring to.
I've been noticing some errors about Rowling's awards, so I'll see if I can verify that number (21 awards) before using it. E.g. British Council, which I'd expect to be a reliable source, seems to say Rowling won the Carnegie, which is certainly wrong. Olivaw-Daneel (talk) 22:40, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Messes everywhere I look :) Thanks for looking, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 22:54, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Olivaw-Daneel I see you hard at work fine-tuning this article. Kirk has a list of Awards in an appendix, beginning on p. 120. You can check it out through archive.org ; if it’s not available, ping me and tell me to logout! [1]. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:36, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link! This is very useful. Unlike the others Kirk lists nominations as well. Olivaw-Daneel (talk) 16:49, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You are really moving along here; nice article! You may want to have Guerillero or Barkeep49 have a look. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:33, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is coming along nicely. Assuming we're sticking with "notable awards" only, I think there are still some that were on the last version on her mainpage that could be brought over. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 19:04, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Olivaw-Daneel: Outside of the last tranche of awards that Barkeep mentions this looks FLC ready. The sourcing is tight and that is the hardest thing for these kinds of lists. Great work! -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 12:57, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both for the comments. I'm mulling how to categorize that last set (perhaps a miscellaneous section); I'll try FLC. Olivaw-Daneel (talk) 01:54, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To add ?

  • Russell Prize nomination [2] [3]
  • Robert F. Kennedy (returned) [4]

SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:17, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Added the second. The first doesn't seem notable (awarded by one person and likely a spoof of this Russell Prize). Olivaw-Daneel (talk) 10:17, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
