Page move

I think this page should be moved to ign.com, and the ign page should point to either the Institut Geographique National or the disambig page; the latter is far more internationally recognised and important the website referenced here. CheesyBiscuit (talk) 16:34, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, IGN might be known as Institut Geographique Nationale in other languages, but in English it's most widely used to refer to the games network. Since this is English Wikipedia, that's the standard we follow (per WP:COMMONNAME). I searched Google and Google News using several different terms, and every time the game network was more prominent in the English search results.

I don't know if it is an official podcast or not yet, but maybe the podcast section should be updated with info on the IGN AU Pubcast. There is only one episode so far.

Founding date

How exactly do we know that IGN was launched September 29, 1996 exactly? I have some sources that could prove that wrong.

The only IGN site to launch on day one was n64.com (later IGN64.com). IGN was launched the day the N64 was released in the US, Sept 29, 1996. Bpm140 (talk) 22:06, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I think that there is another controversy to be addressed here, and it rhymes with "chronic"

Remember when IGN swapped out Sonic Team's gameplay footage of Frontiers for their own, which made the game look like a *ring loss sound* TECH DEMO?! They also made a grating, error filled, and at times creepy and twisted review of the franchise on Game Scoop in 2016 claiming that "Sonic was never good". Then there was that dumpster fire that was the 2008 Unleashed review, in which a lot of the criticism came from blatant skill issues. I believe that these things deserve a subsection in the "Controversy" area. If not here, then possibly in respective Sonic articles. FerDeLancer (talk) 23:48, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This would need reliable sources calling it a controversy. And even with sources...it feels a bit trivial in the scheme of the website's history. Not exactly on par with the things already listed.
