Current status: Good article

Based on... what?

"Ant-Man and the Wasp is a 2018 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics characters Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne / Wasp"

Hope van Dyne never existed in Marvel Comics. A different iteration of the character, Hope Pym, debuted as the supervillain Red Queen (not as the Wasp) in the MC2 line. Technically the movie is also based on Douglas' Pym and Pfeiffer's Janet, so we should change to "based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name, Ant-Man (with a direct link to Ant-Man (comics)) and the Wasp (comics) Johnf69 (talk) 11:52, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody is answering... 🤨 Johnf69 (talk) 07:58, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The film is based on the title characters, who are Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne / the Wasp. It's a common practice and there's bot implicit and explicit consensus for doing it the way we do it. As Scott Lang is Ant-Man in the comics, a single link is correct. Hope van Dyne is based on Hope Pym, who isn't the Wasp in the comics, but she is in the film, so having two separate links is correct here, though not necessary and it might get reverted by someone else, at which point you'll have to discuss it here instead of adding it back, or changing anything else relating to this for that matter. —El Millo (talk) 08:04, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I still think we should change it in "based on the Marvel comics characters of the same name", since Hope Van Dyne is a MCU original character... but okay. Who cares, right?

Thanks for answering. Johnf69 (talk) 08:59, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Johnf69: You are now edit warring at Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Per this discussion and Facu-el Millo's response, nothing has changed against using based on the Marvel Comics characters Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne / Wasp here or at the sequel's article. To add to this discussion, I agree with Facu's response, and the wording that has been used. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:54, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hope van Dyne isn't a Marvel Comics character. That's it. If Evangeline Lilly's Wasp is based on Hope Pym, we have to write "Hope Pym / Red Queen" or "Hope Pym / Wasp". Johnf69 (talk) 18:24, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Johnf69: Even though you were edit warring, I must apologize regarding my change at Quantumania. It was getting confusing trying to follow what had been happening here, and I thought your edit was against what was settled on here, which for the record, I agree with Ant-Man (Scott Lang) for "Scott Lang / Ant-Man" and Hope Pym and Wasp (comics) separately. Again, apologies for my revert on Quantumania. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:05, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'm sorry for the edit warring. Thank you for everything! Johnf69 (talk) 06:37, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Featuring" vs "Based on" in the opening sentence

There's a discussion involving this and many other MCU film articles at Talk:Loki (TV series)#"Featuring" vs "Based on" in the opening sentence that may be of interest of watchers of this page. —El Millo (talk) 03:49, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Noting that in my WP:BOLD change here that incorporated the consensus from that discussion, I meant to say Does not simply say "based on Marvel Comics" in the edit summary. IronManCap (talk) 17:55, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Quantumania discussion

Noting that there is a renewed discussion at Talk:Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania that may affect this article. IronManCap (talk) 18:34, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cast Order

Why is this article not following the rules established for MCU cast orders? I attempted to change, but it was reverted back. The current order is the poster order. The one used in the main credits is John-Kamen, Dastmalchian, Harris, Greer, Cannavale, Park, Fortson. NickH (talk) 00:24, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Favre1fan93: was this reversion intentional? —El Millo (talk) 03:04, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe so. I think in undoing the edit after, I span viewed the edits and assumed the change was from the film ones, not to them since I thought InfiniteNexus had adjusted all of them. If that is indeed the case, then it was an error on my part. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:06, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'm going to WP:TROUT myself now, because this was indeed my bad. Going back to the page history, it appears when I adjusted all the articles back in November (after Wakanda Forever came out), somehow I missed this article (or maybe didn't hit save? not sure). I'm 99% sure I got everyone else, but just to be safe I'm going to double check the other articles later. InfiniteNexus (talk) 03:17, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All good, that's why I said I partially undid it early, and wanted to make sure. Apologies Nickh105. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:35, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
