Despite T360488 asking them not to, Toolforge admins have gone ahead and broken AnomieBOT's scripts. Keeping things running properly will likely require manual intervention until they fix that or give me a usable workaround.

Regarding the OrphanReferenceFixer and TagDater, please note:

AnomieBOT is not an anti-vandal bot, so complaints about AnomieBOT "hiding" or not reverting vandalism are out of place here. AnomieBOT's current strategy is "wait 10 minutes to an hour or so to let ClueBot, VoABotII, other anti-vandal bots, or RC Patrollers fix the vandalism". I am open to specific suggestions on detecting vandalism, but keep in mind that the false positive rate of any method must be near zero to be useful. AnomieBOT honors {{inuse}}; please use it if you have excessive edit conflicts. If the reference errors or undated tags were caused by vandalism, just revert AnomieBOT's edits along with the vandal's. AnomieBOT will not be offended. If AnomieBOT made a mistake in correcting a reference error or dating a tag, please correct the error by hand and report the URL of the problem diff below. Don't just revert the bot without fixing the error, or AnomieBOT is likely to "fix" it again in the same broken way before I get a chance to fix the bug. If you have a problem with T11790, please take the issue up there. You will be having the problem with more than just AnomieBOT's edits. Thank you.

	Regarding deletions, please note:
If you are here because you think AnomieBOT III deleted an article, please check again. AnomieBOT III deletes redirects when someone else deletes the article the redirect pointed to, and you almost certainly want to talk to that person instead.

	Regarding {{old AfD multi}}, please note:
If you are here because AnomieBOT added {{old AfD multi}} to an article when the old AfD was about a different person with the same name, just remove it. The bot has no way to tell whether it's the same person or a different one.

Before requesting a WikiProjectTagger run, please read the following:

The bot can easily handle multiple projects at a time: Everything below can be specified on a per-project basis. If there is significant overlap (e.g. articles in Category:Physicists are likely in the scope of both WP:WikiProject Physics and WP:WikiProject Biography), please consider requesting tagging for all the projects at once. The terms of the bot's approval require that each WikiProject involved approve the list of categories to be processed. In your request, please link to the discussion on each wikiproject's talk page showing this approval. If you do not do this, I will have to post at the talk pages myself and wait a week for replies. That discussion should address all of the following points: Specify which categories to process. Including "all subcategories" is possible, but in general is no longer done. Certain pages will be auto-assessed for class and importance. If any of the below is not acceptable, specify how it should be changed (e.g. "Do not set importance", "Just tag, do not assess", or "Ignore the page, don't even tag it"). I've had to make this kind of edit removing a duplicate a couple times now. Since ABOT visits deletion sorting pages fairly regularly anyway, I'm wondering if it might be possible to take care of duplicates itself. (I don't know if that's a trivial change.) AnomieBOT can sometimes add a |df= param. But I've noticed that the editor subsequently flags that parameter as an "unknowm parameter", when the article is is edit mode. E.g., in this edit (diff), the tag {{update after}} is added to an article by an editor. AnomieBOT comes by and changes it to {{update after|2020|6|14|df=US}} (which you can see if you open this section of the Talk page in the wiki editor) It seems there is a bug, or an inconsistency between what AnomieBOT does and what the wikisyntax interpreter thinks is valid syntax. It looks like the template has 30-some transclusions, which isn't too surprising given its advanced age. I added subst-only auto to mirror {{uw-editsummary}}, a very similar template, and other user warning templates. Hello, it appears the EnDashRedirectCreator function of the bot has added the {{R avoided double redirect}} tag to many redirected templates, project pages and (mostly) talkpages. This tag is not to be used on pages in those namespaces, and so they are all winding up in Category:Pages with templates in the wrong namespace. Why is that. You used "modification" but that says "Please note that there are many more specific templates."... hint, you should use "avoided double redirect" on that page. Why is it more important to tag a talk page for avoided double redirect than the corresponding article. List of Billboard number-one singles of 1946 (Pre-Hot 100) was created before AnomieBOT was coded to add {{R avoided double redirect}} and has not needed its target updated yet; I didn't particularly want to try to get consensus for a task to have the bot edit 200000 redirects just to add {{R avoided double redirect}} when I was more concerned with the ones the bot had created that actually needed updating. Talk:List of Billboard number-one singles of 1946 (Pre-Hot 100), on the other hand, did need updating thanks to moves of and changes to Talk:List of Billboard number-one singles of 1946 (Pre–Hot 100), so {{R avoided double redirect}} was incidentally added at the same time the target was fixed. Genuinely curious, but how would it know? While I agree it's a problematic edit, there are subst-only templates in userspace and subst-only templates in article space, and I would think that the only way to determine that would be to have a gigantic list of which are which. Another option could be to use {{main talk other}} or similar to have it output nothing in mainspace, but again that would require going through a ton of templates in order to do that. I guess the real question is, how often does this sort of thing happen? If it's less than once per day, then I feel like it's more of a GIGO situation than anything. When trying to fix orphaned refs in Little Haiti, MediaWiki's spam blacklist complained about city-data.com. This probably means someone didn't properly clean up after themselves when blacklisting the link and removing existing uses, but a human needs to double-check it. The attempted changes were:

• Little Haiti revision 968000522:
  • Rescued "LittleHaiti" from rev 967999804
    Removed in revision 968000522 by Tdk408 (talk • contribs • logs) with comment "/* Demographics */Given the other numbers, 1,983 residents makes no sense. This number appears nowhere in the footnoted document." (removed 224/17848 bytes, 1%)

You might also use {{subst:User:Anomie/uw-orphans|1=rm diff|2=fix diff}} to let the remover know, if their edit summary indicates they were specifically removing the blacklisted ref. @Tdk408: Your edit removed the definition of the reference named "LittleHaiti", leaving behind a <ref name="LittleHaiti" /> that now has no definition. That causes the page to show Cite error: The named reference LittleHaiti was invoked but never defined as seen at Special:Permalink/968000522#cite_note-LittleHaiti-12. The bot tried to provide a definition, but was unable to because city-data.com has been blacklisted, so it complains here to ask a human to figure out how to fix it. Someone (maybe you!) might fix it by replacing the <ref name="LittleHaiti" /> with {{citation needed|date=July 2020}}, or by finding another source for the information and replacing the <ref name="LittleHaiti" /> with the new citation, or by replacing/removing the relevant content that was supposedly sourced to the blacklisted site if it too is in error. In the article, Levels (Avicii song), all the quotations are in italics. I have put the article on peer review and someone wants me to remove the italics. I looked at Wikipedia's essay about quotations and apparently italics are against Wikipedia's guidelines. Jackmcbarn, not Anomie, but I think it may be that {{Adddisamb}} contains {{documentation|content={{subst only|auto=yes}}}} which adds it into Category:Wikipedia templates to be automatically substituted, so I guess the bot is processing it per User:AnomieBOT/docs/TemplateSubster? FYI: AnomieBOT uses the "web" replicas for TemplateSubster (for fetching the category members and counting their transclusions), EnDashRedirectCreator (for finding redirects needing creating/updating), and TemplateTalkRedirectCreator (for finding talk pages needing creation). This happened because some closed CfD's were listed at move review. Wikipedia:Categories for discussion says Wikipedia:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a CfD request that is limited in scope to renaming, and Wikipedia:Move review says Leave notice of the move review in the same section as, but outside of and above the closed original move discussion. Everything seems to have been done correctly according to the instructions, so I think the bot's regex just needs to be updated to handle this case. I'm not going to add this to the list, because I'm not sure it should be on the list. As near as I can tell, this template has been transcluded on about 40 db-template /docs for years, and has been subst-only for all that time. I don't think we should be substing the /doc uses, because if the template changes the notice should change as well.

Similar to #TemplateSubster: Template:WikiProject North Dakota has too many transclusions - Fixed above, this is because HC7 created a bunch of new talk pages that use it without substing it. Robert McClenon, when you decline a draft and use {{twocopies}} in your decline summary, it leaves it at both the draft and the user page. Thus, if you decline three drafts using that rationale, suddenly there are six transclusions, which triggers this notice. I see that AnomieBOT is "rescuing" references by placing irrelevant references under certain reference names. Why does it do this? It ends up placing a reference that appears like it might be useful, but really isn't -- and can't possibly be, in fact. Does a human review the references that are "rescued"? (What does "rescue" really mean, anyway?) The bot is not infallible, as can be seen in numerous places on this talk page and in the archives. All it takes is a misspelled ref name or a reference not appearing in another location to break a reference.
