The Tesla Model Y is the first ever electric vehicle to become the world's best-selling car in 2023, outselling the Toyota Corolla.[1]

Battery electric vehicles are vehicles exclusively using chemical energy stored in rechargeable battery packs, with no secondary source of propulsion (e.g., hydrogen fuel cell, internal combustion engine, etc.).
