Jonathan Schanzer is an American author and senior vice president of research at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.[1] He oversees the work of the organization's experts and scholars.

During the 2023 Hamas-Israel war he suggested that the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza is a Hamas command center and that Israel should bomb it as a "legitimate military target".[2]
