Deutsch: Michelangelos römische Pietà, häufig auch als vatikanische Pietà bezeichnet, ist eine der bekanntesten Darstellungen dieses in der abendländischen Kunst sehr beliebten Sujets. Bei der Fertigstellung war Michelangelo in seinen Mittzwanzigern. Sie ist eines der bedeutendsten Werke der abendländischen Bildhauerei und ein herausragendes Beispiel für die Kunst der Hochrenaissance.
English: The Pieta is now in the first temple on the right of Saint Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City.
Français : ce groupe était destiné au tombeau du Cardinal Jean de Bilhères, abbé de Saint-Denis. C'est un des chefs-d'oeuvre de l'artiste.
