English: SPAIN, Castile. Alfonso VIII of Castile. 1158-1214.
AV Maravedí, equivalent to the Almoravid dinar (3.86 g, 4h). Toledo (Tulaitula) mint. Dated in the year 1229 of the Spanish Era, i.e. 1191 AD.
"Imam al-bi'a al-masihiya Baba" in two lines across field; cross above, ALF below; "Bismillahi wa al-ibni wa al-ruhi al-quddus Allah al-wahidun min umana' wa ta'amad yakun salima" in outer margin; annulets flanking upper bar of cross and ALF, third annulet in upper left field
"Amir/al-qatuliqin/Alfuns bin Sanya/ayadahu Allah/wa nasarahu" in five lines across fields; "Struck was this dinar in Toledo (Tulaitula) in the year nine and twenty and two hundred and one thousand of the Safar era" in outer margin.

Español: Maravedí de oro acuñado durante el reinado de Alfonso VIII de Castilla en Toledo. Fechado en el año 1229 de la Era Hispánica (= 1191 de la era común). Peso: 3,86 gramos.
Leyendas en el anverso: "Amir/al-qatuliqin/Alfuns bin Sanya/ayadahu Allah/wa nasarahu" en cinco líneas, lo cual en árabe significa "El príncipe de los católicos Alfonso hijo de Sancho, ayúdale Dios y protégele". En el margen circular dice "", que en árabe significa "Acuñado fue este dinar en Toledo (Tulaitula) en el año mil doscientos veintinueve de la era de España (Safar)".
Leyendas en el reverso: "Imam al-bi'a al-masihiya Baba" en dos líneas, que significa "Imán de la iglesia del Mesías Papa", y justo debajo "ALF". En el margen circular "Bismillahi wa al-ibni wa al-ruhi al-quddus Allah al-wahidun min umana' wa ta'amad yakun salima", que significa "En el nombre de Dios y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, Dios único, el que crea y sea bautizado se salvará", lo cual es una cita del Evangelio de Marcos, capítulo 16, versículo 16.
