Should we limit direct contents to US nationsls

Can domeone by Native American without being American. Or are thry just Ojibwe, Navajo, Ute, etc. This really comes up with ERGS rules. In theory everyone in say Native American potters belongs in Americsn potters. If I have a Navajo Potter who died in 1845 she was not an American Potter. I doubt she was a Mexican Potter either. She was a Navajo Potter where Navajo is her de facto nationality. We have lots and lots of cases, more from the Africsn continent than anywhere else where people's ethnic group is their de facto nationality for people before 1900. We need to think about how we create categories to acknowledge this. In a few cases, we may be able to categorize them by quasi-states, but in others we just need to consciously make sure we only put them in categories based on their actual ethnicity.John Pack Lambert (talk) 04:08, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
