Alex Ballinger is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Halesowen since 2024. He gained the seat from James Morris, a Conservative.[1]

Voted to keep the former Conservative Government's policy of two-child benefit cap in place, keeping 300,000 children in poverty by voting to reject the motion to amend the King's speech[2].

Personal life

Ballinger is a former Royal Marine[3][4] and previously worked in the Middle East for the Department for International Development as an aid worker.[5] He then worked in Pakistan for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) as a diplomat.[6]

Most recently, Alex Ballinger was the Chief Executive of a Birmingham-based mental health charity, leaving the role in 2023.[5]
