His genealogy was traced through several ancestors—some of them with typically Berber names—all the way to the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad. It is said that he was born to the Banu Arus tribe in the neighbourhood of the Jabal al-'Alam, and that at the age of 16 he travelled to the east to study. On his return, in Béjaïa, he followed the instructions of the Andalusian mystic Abu Madyan. He come back to stay in his native country, where he withdrew to the mountain to live an edifying life as an ascetic. He was the murshid "spiritual guide" of al-Shadhili, his only disciple.[1]

I am a descendant of Moulay Abdeslam Bin Mchich "Idris Dynasty", the history that was passed on to us, is Sharif Moulay Abdeslam Bin Mchich was rather chosen by his father over his brother to teach the Amazigh Riffian at the age of 11 when he memorized the Quran, he was chosen over his brother who also memorized the Quran by answering correctly a wise Question and I will only paraphrase it and the Question to the two brothers went like this, "If a person mistreated you, how you will treat him? The brother answer/reply was like this, "I will mistreat him the same as he mistreated me", Sharif Moulay Abdeslam Bin Mchich answer/reply was like this, "I will keep treating him well-positively perpetually and he will come around and treat me well" and for this wise answer Sharif Moulay Abdeslam was kind entrusted to the Amazigh-Riff and His Father stated to the Amazigh-Riff, I will entrust my Bni-Son unto you as "Arouse" meaning as a groom and that how the Village Became known as Beni Arouse and the land of Beni Arouse 540+ Kilometer was gifted and entrusted by the Amazigh-Riff to "Noble" AHL-SHORFA of AL-ADARESA. Beni Arouse consists of 18 Douars (Cluster of Small Villages) and it is a Part of JBALA region Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). (ZAWYA SIDI OUTHMAN) I am an actual descendant and I have more knowledge about subject matter that can go all the way back to AL-ANDALUS and I am a direct Descendant of another Sharifian Saint named Moulay Sidi Outhmam in Douar Khaldi-Yeen and I possess MA-ARIF that are also sensitive to the area, last but not least, Sharif Moulay Abdeslam Bin Mchich was the actual original founder of Sufism in Morocco and it is very sad for me to only read about his only student and never read a reference to such great man in Morocco Sufism History and so on
