  • January 24 – Saudi Arabia, where alcohol has been banned since 1952, opens its first alcohol store in the diplomatic quarter of its capital Riyadh.[2]

  • June 16 – Fourteen Jordanians are killed during a hajj, six of whom due to heat-related illnesses due to extreme heat.[5]
  • June 20 – 2024 Hajj disaster: At least 1,301 pilgrims have now died from heat-related causes during the Hajj in Saudi Arabia according to figures released by various countries.[6]
  • June 21 – Tunisian President Kais Saied has dismissed the Minister of Religious Affairs after 49 Tunisians were reported to have died so far in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.[7]
